I have been unemployed since May and actively looking for a job since then...I have received my last unemployment check (today) I have sent out several resumes, filled out many applications and had been on interviews...None of them have come through for me...well, today I went on an interview (secretary) and they want me back again tomorrow for a second interview!!! I pray they hire me....With Christmas just around the corner this would be the best early gift I could get...Please keep those finger crossed!!

Thank you everyone!

Thank you everyone!! they are supposed to be calling me tomorrow with a salary offer..I have to take this job regardless of the pay...I got my last unemployment check today...Unemployment is at it's worst right now where I live...I have had many interviews, filled out so many applications and sent out so many resumes that I can't even remember how many...This isn't a big company and isnt' something that I would have chosen if I had more time to look but I need the money...especially with Christmas right around the corner...they are very very nice people , Maybe this IS the right one...I will let you all know tomorrow what happens but, it sure looks like they are offering it to me..

Thanks for all your good positive thoughts and prayers girls...Looks like they worked!

Brenda, I'm SO GLAD for you!!!

I really didn't choose my current job either... was lured to it by an offer of 12% more than I'd been told it paid when I applied and the convenience of working very near home. For the most part, I like it and am glad I took it.

I hope you find the same with this new job. Just to have a job now will be a blessing the way it sounds, but if the people you work with/for are decent, that's a great bonus. So here's hoping this is a good fit for you and turns out to be a nice spot for you to have landed.

Please keep us posted!

Sometimes the positions we get are not what we would have chosen, but end up being the best and most rewarding. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you. Let us know something when you find out....:)

Do you only get unemployment for so long? what happens if you cannot get employment is there any thing else you can claim. Have been very lucky to have not been in that situation however I think it's all a little differant over here seems some people never work for years and still get unemployment. Good luck in your search for a new job.

We do get unemployment here but, only a certain amount. The employer pays unemployment insurance and the amount you receive depends on how my you have in your "bank" once that is gone...it's gone....Mine is now gone...I have never had such a hard time finding a job..

I was supposed to hear on the job I interviewed for yesterday..no call and, they did say they were calling me...told me that the interview went very well...blah, blah, blah! When I left from my second interview I was lead to believ that I had the job..they were going to be calling me back with the salary...well I haven't gotten a call back!! I have been looking for a job since May...there are not alot of jobs in my area right now for clerical but, I have even applied at wal-mart, cvs, etc....God I hope something comes up soon...I have been sooo depressed lately and the thought of getting this job just made me feel so much better and now....no call.

Oh man! I'm so sorry that they haven't called you. Did they give you a number to call to get in touch with them? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you... maybe they just got busy and they'll call you on Monday

Thanks...yes I called yesterday afternoon, I was told she was home with her sick son and they would get back to me later in the day....they didn't. And, I called this morning...she was there but on the phone so I left a message...still no call...I am thinking they will call Monday also...but, I just wish they hadn't told me they were going to call me yesterday...and then to not return my call...I will be 50 in March...I am not an "old" 50...and I don't look my age...but, I am still going to be 50...I hope to God this isn't why I am not getting hired....I am just so down right now..

Don't be down, yet. If her son was sick and she was off the day she meant to call you, she may have been catching up, and just did not have time to call, or want to deal with employment issues right then.

We will all have our fingers crossed that you get the call tomorrow.

Brenda, I hope I haven't missed this somewhere else, but did they ever call you back? Did you call them again?

I did call them again on the Friday of the week I went for 2 interviews...I spoke with one of the girls in the office...I asked if I could speak with (girl that interviewed me) she asked who I was when I told her she said that she was on her phone and put me into her voice mail...I left a message with her to please call me back (now keep in mind..I had 2 interviews, 2 different people and was TOLD they would get back to me). She never returned my call.
I was so upset...not that is was the greatest job in the world but, it was a job and I need to work. I can not believe employers today!! you would have thought they would have at least had the courtesy to return my call and let me know one way or the other...ESPECIALLY where I had 2 interviews!! If you had asked me if I had the job I would have bet my life on it just by the way the were talking to me...I just don't understand it...I have put this in God's hands....I am beginning to think he might have dropped me. I am still looking but...nothing...there are not alot of jobs around here (in my field ) right now

Thanks for asking Janet.

Oh please do not think God has dropped you! I am sure he hasn't! God cares more for us than anything! I know it is hard to hold onto trust and faith during the hard times, but try! Something good will happen! I will add my prayers for you to those that are already praying. Maybe God has something better in mind for you!

Remember, the bible tells us that God knows of each sparrow that falls. It also says that he feeds the animals of the wild and they have no food or clothes, nor do they worry about it, but yet he still provides it for them. :) God knows you and he knows your needs and he is working on something to help you! I am sure of it!

I agree with Willow.
Last December I quit my job of 6 yrs to take a different one. I worked just 2 days and found that my physical condition would not allow me to do the new job. I had to quit and had no job lined up to go to. My old position was not being filled and I was suddenly unemployed. About a month later, my husband was hurt at work and was off 5 1/2 months. During this time I applied all over and prayed and worried terribly. I couldn't believe the trouble I was having finding a new job!

Finally in April I got a job 37miles from home that I really did not like, but I was just glad to get work. I stayed with it until October when I got my current job 3 miles from home and 13% more money. Now hubby is back at work, he got a nice raise, and I am working full time in a better job than I had thought I'd get! God came through for us, but in His own way and time.

He will come through for you too. I know it's hard to be patient and have faith, but it will happen. I will keep you in my prayers.

Thank you everyone..I am just so down right now...I am 49 yrs "young"...I don't know if my age has anything to do with me not getting a job....I have exhausted all my resources...I just don't know what to do anymore..With Christmas this weekend it just makes things harder...I have a wonderful husband that really understands what I am going through and hasn't once made a comment about me not having a job...he can see how hard I am trying to get one..
My Mom lights a candle for me and prays that I get a job...I just feel like I have been forgotten by God...I know I haven't but, that is how I am feeling right now. I have slipped into depression..a place I have been before and don't like! I have my furbabies to keep me entertained and try to keep myself busy at home...It's hard though when you really don't want to do anything...But, they say all good things come to those who wait...I just hope I don't have to wait too much longer..

Thank you for all your prayers and kind words...it means alot...especially coming from my "WT friends" that I have never met..

love,
Brenda~

Don't worry Brenda, everyone is kind "down" right now. Once we get through the holidays you can start your new year with more enthusiasm and a new self confidence and you'll get that job. I'm also a firm believer that all good things come to those who wait...but man is it hard!!!
