I bought myself a bottle of J. Bavet Brandy and plan to get myself totally slopping drunk. I haven't been drunk since before I got PG with my 20 yr old, so it shouldn't take much. :D Because of the meds I'm on for my heart and such, I just don't drink! So I've decided I'm going to give up my meds for a day and see if getting too drunk to feel stress might help. LOL

What's really funny is that my Mother, who herself doesn't drink, advised me to try this!
So anyone want to come by and get schnockered with me? LOL

Be careful, don't get so schnockered that you make yourself sick. Don't want you bowing down to a porcelain god. ;)

It's bad enough to see a drunk man....a drunk woman looks horrible! Please reconsider and don't get schnockered. Try some Yoga or something else besides getting drunk. OR smoke a joint. At least you won't get sloppy and you'll remember what you did the next day...LOL AND it's so relaxing....at least it was about 20 years ago...oh for the good ole days...:p

If you must get drunk here are some tips:

Brandy bad, makes you very sick & you'll feel like shit the next day.

Try clear liquor like vodka or rum, dark liquors make you feel worse

Prepare, Prepare, Prepare - drink 2 times your normal intake of water & take 2 advil an hour before imbibing. I've also heard a glass of milk right before you drink keeps you from throwing up, but I'm lactose intolerant so I've never tried this.

Drink slowly, as soon as you start to feel drunk, stop drinking & start drinking water.

Do not smoke cigarrettes (a joint is okay ;) ) while drinking it will make your headache worse the next day.

Drinking can be a good way to let go of some tensions, it'll bring your inhibitions down so you can deal with some issues you might of been to proud to, but if you get hammered & throw up or have a really bad hangover all the good benefits are cancelled out by the bad. Be careful & do it will someone you trust to see you at your most vulnerable.

Janet, if it were legal, I'd go for the joint in a heartbeat. Since it's not, I refrain.

That was a long time ago for me...really longer than 20 years because it was while I was in my early 20's. It was so relaxing. Use to love sitting outside at night and gazing at the stars...and boy....were those crickets really loud...LMAO!!!!! Getting drunk always made me feel bad the next day and I could never remember what a fool I made of myself...but others reminded me....LOL I don't do either anymore. I do have beer once in awhile when we go out to eat, but I'd be embarassed to death if someone I knew ever saw me drunk now, so two is my limit and most of the time it's only one. I don't ever want someone to tell my son..."your mom sure was drunk." No way!!!!

I'm pretty straight laced. I've never been drunk (actually I've only had a drink once and it was very small and was mixed with something else) and I've never smoked a joint or done drugs. The worst thing that I've ever done (besides shooting off my big mouth) was I got pregnant in high school.

There are other things I'd recommend besides getting drunk or high to relax, but I'm a goody-two shoes; don't drink, would rather die than smoke, and never done any drugs, not to mention I'm dead serious about staying pure til I get married.

My secret to relaxation is the gym and a good comedian. Work out, take a hot shower, and watch someone that'll really make you laugh. If you get your muscles to the point that they tingle a bit when you sit down it gives you a sense of relaxation that can't be beat. Not to mention if you take advil before and after you work out you tend to not be sore the next day.

But if you do choose the drunk route take lots of advil, you can take like 30 before you even begin to have any kinds of adverse reactions, but you gotta watch tylenol and acetaminophen, they cause liver failure (found that out the other day from an EMT)

3 shots is enough to make me buzz and want to just go to sleep. Yet not enough to make me at all drunk or hung over the next day thank goodness. I had about that last night laying alone in my room watching tv and fell asleep easily. I didn't feel any affects from it this morning. Hubby woke me at 3 am when he came home and I was fine then.

I have to say it was nice to just melt away into a more relaxed state. I could never become an alcoholic, because once I have a drink I just want to lie down and relax. I wouldn't be able to do anything else if I drank frequently. I guess one bottle in over 20 yrs should be relatively safe. LOL

But would you want him to know you smoked a joint?? american views to drugs may be differant to uk but I think I would rather have a few drinks.

I would never, in a million years do that now! My son does know I smoked a joint when I was younger. Not that we "bragged" about it to him, but to let him know we were kids once too that then, we thought it was okay...when it wasn't. We let him know that his parents are not perfect parents, but we try our best and we were definitely not perfect kids, that we understand what teenagers go through.

I've always been quite open with my son and he knows I will discuss anything and everything with him. That is one reason why, when he was in the sixth grade and they had the "talk" with him, he brought all the information home and wanted me to explain it further. He has even asked me a couple of years ago just exactly what is a "rubber." I explained what it is, how it is used and the pros and cons. I truely believe that is why he is such a great young man...he will ask us anything...and we answer as honestly as we can. I would rather he learn and hear these things from us instead of the "boys."

I just mixed myself a nice tequilla sunrise. I'd forgotten how pretty they are. LOL

I don't plan to go anywhere tonight, and cleaned house ALL day... closets, drawers, etc are ALL organized now. Hubby is having a Mikes Hard Lemonade, and Joel has 2 friends over playing cards with him. We're not a wild bunch, but we will manage to celebrate a little in our own way.

Sure wish you would have come and cleaned mine up good. I was soooo planning on cleaning good while I was off..and I still may, but the ambition just isn't what it was a few days ago. I should have started then...LOL

Because we had company, I've been cleaning again this morning. I hate to start the work week with a messy house since I know it won't be any easier to clean after work.

They've all left, so now I'm just picking up and wiping down and trying to gather up hubbies stuff since he has to leave this afternoon. Most ended up heating up chili for breakfast, so I have dirty dishes to tackle yet.
