Okay ladies...It seems like Vday is more aimed at us (women), but what are you getting your DH,BF or partner?
Or what are you doing special for them? Come on, pour your hearts out!

I don't like Valentine's Day very much or our anniversary. I'm not big on the romance department. Isn't that awful???? I always try to find some way to get out of buying a gift and even for hubby not to buy me anything. We just bought new cell phones so that is our Valentine present to each other. There are not many cards that aren't too mushy. I just don't feel that way. I would rather have a card that says I love you, but not goo goo ga ga. I've looked for more simple cards, but can never find any.

probably sex...That is what he will want. It's free, don't have to shop for it, and it's such a loving way to show him all my affection for him.
What do I want? Diamonds! LOL :D

HAHAHAHA! Nice!
Yeah Janet, it's hard to find cards that aren't all *mush*.
And yes, sex is free!!

I do not like the way my post sounded....:( It's not that I don't love my husband, I do, but it's different now. We've had a rough 32 years, not all of it, but a lot. I just don't like all the mushy stuff that would make him think of S....E.....X...!!! I wish I could get over it, but I do most everything around here. After 32 years...it's just another job that I hate and another mess to clean up.
Please don't think I'm awful...unless one lived in my marriage, no one would have any idea how I feel. Yes, I've done counceling, like I always suggest, but it has to be a two way street. I can only help myself.

I'm not big on Valentine's Day. I think it is a marketing ploy. If we do anything at all, we'll cook a nice dinner at home. We don't buy each other presents. Hubby will probably get me flowers.

I have yet to celebrate Valentines day with my husband. He knows that I don't like that day it's to over rated. Besides my husband spoils me enough every day.
He does alot to help me around the house.

Janet its okay to feel that way, to be honest I to will be married 25 yrs. we have had our ups and downs like everyone else. We did the councel thing to.. I don't care for mushy cards to, and its ok to feel that way. My husband on V day usually buys me candy and flowers, I in turn buy him chocolate that he likes.

Janet,
Only you know what it's like to be living in your shoes through your marriage, and no one is judging you. I can understand the sex thing, (with an X) it was just another chore that I dreaded...but everyone has their own thoughts on Valentines day and as Rebecca mentioned, it's totally a Hallmark day, and another 'holiday' (if you want to call it that) where stores can rope you in to buy more stuff! It's okay not to be a big fan of...really anything you don't want to be a fan of! You can enjoy your yorkies!!! And, you can spend the day/evening however you want to!! :p

By BF isn't working on Valentines day!!! He was supposed to work night shift on Vday but he took someone else's shift, and has it off now!!! It was going to be a surprise, but I finally figured it out today, I hadn't put two and two together, but I'm really happy cause this will be our first Vday! It'll be low key, cause I'm BROKE, and currently unemployed! Just wanted to share!
Greg will be on the road on Valentines Day, so I'm sure we won't be doing anything. He gave me my gift early, and I've yet to pick up anything for him, but will have to before next weekend when he comes home again.
It's never been a big deal here either.

I'm a big romantic, so I like Valentine's day. I do agree that it's a Hallmark holiday... but it's still nice to have an excuse to do something nice for each other. We're going to have a romantic dinner at home... steak, lobster, and champagne by candlelight. We agreed not to spend too much money on each other. My birthday and our anniversary and his graduation for his Master's were all at the end of October, then Christmas, now V-day, then his b-day is in 2 months. I just got a scrapbook album that I'm going to put together with pictures of us throughout the time we've been together. I thought it would be a nice gesture. We're not celebrating until next Friday though. I didn't want to have to get up and go to work if I was hungover from champagne. ;)

This sounds sooo special. I think romance is important and it really does help when one if not both are the romantic type.
My hubby and I have always tried to make it a special time and it really doesn't have to cost that much.
I will always remember one year we wanted to do something different. So I made Valentines kind of a game. I said we both had to make each other a card BUT only use items found already in the home. So for an hour we both scurried around secretly finding all our stuff to make the cards. We then hid alone in bedrooms while we each created our special Valentine.
I will never forget that day, it was awesome!!

Valentine's Day is always special for us, because our anniversary is on February 12th, today! We have been married for 35 years. My hubby suprised me by taking the day off and spending it with me. We had a great time and did some shopping. Actually I bet I got the best present, we bought a brand new Fifth Wheel RV. I am so excited to start going on new adventures! But we just try to give each other a little more special time at this time of year!
