Do you workout? If so, how often, and what's your favorite workout? If not, why not?

I don't workout, but I REALLY REALLY want to get into a routine and shape up. I'm just having a really hard time finding the motivation. I am already petite, but I know I could have a smoking body if I put the effort into working out and eating right. But since I'm married and hubby thinks I'm beautiful the way I am, I am just not motivated. After I work 8 hours a day, I'm just too tired to even think about working out. :(

I don't want to loose weight, just have to work on my condition!

I use to workout a lot a lot a lot!
then i got pregnant... but im getting back into yet now so yes i work out lol..
i use to think that as women we should be doing light weights at higher reps and doing cardio to get lean.. but this is WRONG!
right now im trying to get lean.. so im lifting heavier weights (not like 100 lbs or anything).. just heavy enough so that i struggle..
and i dont do cardio before lifting weights anymore.. because i found out that is also wrong.. only do cardio before lifting only to warm up (maybe 5 minutes max)..
mond, wed and fri i do arms, shoulders and back.. tues and thursday and sat i do legs.. everyday i do abs though..
:) ive got 40 lbs to lose... so this is going to be a bitof a journey :)

I don't work out...but I REALLY need to. With running kids everywhere and keeping up with a house, I've just gotten too lazy when it comes to things that I need to do for myself.

I use to walk 30 minutes everyday on my treadmill when I came home from the bus route. I'd walk watchng the last 30 minutes of Little House on the Prairie. But then the doggies came and well, I played with them instead of walking..time to get back on that thing cause I sure did feel better.

I've worked out off and on for over 20 years. I'll do it for a while and then quit for a while. When I'm in a work out phase, it's like I can't not do it because it makes me feel so much better, but when I'm not in a workout phase I think I'm too tired and don't have time.
Right now, I try to workout every day, but my children are in college, so don't have to chase them around any more. I go to a gym right after work even though I work 8 hours a day and commute to another town.
When I had young children, I found the easiest, cheapest way was to walk for an hour after I put them to bed. We actually had a 9 p.m. walking group in our neighborhood. That worked very well. You'd be surprised how much better you feel.
Now I go to a gym and do the fat burn routine on the elyptical for 30 minutes then walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I've lost 16 lbs since May 1 and my saddlebags are gone!! I do a little ab work, but not weights. I have neck problems and my doctor says no weights at this time. Have been wanting to talk to a personal trainer and see what weights I can do safely.
Does anyone do pilates? I've been wanting to add that to my routine.
Working out is one reason I don't have 100 posts, yet!!;)

I don't work out - like Kimberly said, with active kids and getting them where they need to be and taking care of the house, I don't have time. But - I'm about to change that. Although I'm not fat, I have packed on an extra 8-10 pounds that I am no longer happy about so I'm going to get rid of it!! My diet starts today and, weather permitting, this evening, I'm going to start walking. I want to get back down in weight to where the clothes I have fit me more comfortably than they do now.

I am going to start walking and exercising a little after I check out Weight Watchers on Thursday evening. I'm one of those who have to gear up and be ready or I'll never start. I'm planning to do the walking when I come home from the bus route on Friday morning. I found that last time if I came home and got it out of the way, then it was over and done with, plus it gave me extra energy throughout the day. I'll just have to let the doggies bark their fool heads off until I let them out. Guess I'll just turn the TV up louder!!!!

After looking at my back side in the mirror over the weekend and nearly passing out from disgust yes...I started working out this morning after years of not doing so.
I am using the step...It's easy but still elavating my heart rate so I think it's working. As of now I can only do 20 minutes, but it's a start. I'm so outta shape it's horrible.
I also began dieting this am. (again) The flashback visuals of what I saw in that mirror is just too haunting not to get back into shape again. :(

This sounds EXACTLY like me... I'm pretty thin as it is (or so everybody tells me) and I'm sure if I would get my butt off the couch after working all day I'm sure I'd have a "smoking body" too. I'll ask Alex (hubby) if I should work out and he always says no, I'm fine the way I am, but I just feel so blah.... I know exercizing would help get my energy up, but getting into a routine I like and can stick with is SO hard!

I use to go to Curves a couple of years ago. I loved it. Took off some inches, lost a few pounds, but I had to drive 10 miles everyday in the winter and I just quit going. I live in the country and here if there is snow, the winds just make the roads so bad. Plus I didn't like paying that much and then paying for gas. Hopefully after Thursday I'll get on a regular walking schedule and WW and do it right this time.

I am a Jazzercise instructor. It's really fun and a great workout. It's dance aerobics with choreographed routines to all different music. A regular class usually is 30-40 minutes of aerobics and the remainder is muscle work and stretching. Classes are usually 1 hour. You can try your first class for free. To find a class near you go to www.jazzercise.com and click on find a class. :)

I used to work out a lot. In high school I did 100 situps a night and I had killer abs! I also figure skated and played basketball. I don't tend to gain weight at all, so after I stopped working out I didn't really notice a lot of difference in my body, but in the past couple of years i've noticed a HUGE difference in how tired I get.
I have a treadmill but I don't use it as much as I should. I also love to do yoga, but it's something I like privacy for. I don't have enough room in my bedroom to do it, so the only other option is the living room that my roommate is constantly in and out of. I think my 2007 new years resolution will be to get in shape!

I love to dance and did have a Jazzercise record album (you can tell how old it is) LOL..a long time ago, but I checked the site you recommended and I don't think there are any in Indiana. I tried a couple nearby cities too, but nothing. I wouldn't want to travel far anyway. :)

I seem to remember Jazzercize tapes. Aren't there CD's or DVD's available?
By the way, glad to see that some of you are beginning to workout, trying to workout or at least thinking about it. There are some days when I just don't have time to do a full workout, but I try to at least walk or something. Anything, even if it is just a few minutes is better than nothing.
To those of you who are under 40. Believe me, it sneaks up on you. You think hey, I don't look too bad, but when you hit 40, something happens. It's like the next day, something happens. And you are like, hey, why does that hurt, or where did that bulge come from, wow, why am I so tired, that never bothered me before. Or at least this has been my experience and many of my friends have expressed the same thing.
I just don't want my body preventing me from doing what I want to do for as long as I can, if there is anything that I can do about it. Ya know what I mean?

I don't really workout. I do go for at least 2 walks each day, anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes each time.
I joined Curves a few years ago, loved it, but could never find the time to go.

You are right on the money Marilyn!!!! It's so funny now, but when I turned 40 it seems everthing started happening. The first real test came when my Mom (at the time she was in her early 70's) and I were out in the front yard playing with my son (4 at the time). We were being silly and he was trying to do a cartwheel. Well, I've always been able to do them before, but NO ONE told me not to do them after 40....LOLOL. I ended up pulling a muscle in the back of my leg from my behind all the way down to my ankle. We heard the most awful sound when the muscle stretched.... I was in so much pain and my Mom couldn't help me get up. My husband was at a meeting. Just so happened my husbands best friend was going by our house on his way home from work and Mom flagged him down.
He was helping me get up and asked me what I had done. I told him I was doing a cartwheel and he darn near dropped me as he laughed. Anyway I ended up in the ER and on crutches for 2 weeks. From then on...it's been downhill....LOL:D The good thing from all this...my Mom was going to do a cartwheel too, thank God she didn't have the chance.!!!!

I woek out but I am a slacker. I try to eat well which is really important too. I am REALLY trying to get fit and shed some pounds cause I have a new bf that is a fireman and his got a perfect body which doesn't help my confidence levels...
But speed walking, running as long as I possibly can (10 mins...pushing it! haha) eliptical, and weights are great.
I thought to tone up we wanted low weigh/lots of reps...what's this about heavier weights??
