View Full Version : Plum wore out
I've had Paige since Wednesday and while I love her dearly, I swear that child simply wears me out. LOL She goes home again tomorrow evening, and while I will miss her once she's gone, I will also sigh and fall into bed for a nap. GOSH I wish I had half her energy!

I know how you feel. I dearly love my grandchildren, but I'm not used to their energy. It really gets on my nerves after a while and wears me out too. There's a reason why we're not suppose to have children late in life!!! Enjoy your rest, Tink.
ROFL Diana, you're SO right. I cannot understand women who CHOOSE to get pregnant at this age or later. There is absolutely no way I could handle a young child full time. I wouldn't even want to try.

LoL. I understand what you mean Tink. I absolutely adore my little sister and LOVE spending time with her, but I just feel exhausted when it's over. She spent the night with us not last night but the night before that and I kept her all day by myself yesterday while hubby was at work. I guess she's just at that age where she needs to be doing something with someone else to keep her occupied ALL the time. lol. :) I wouldn't trade my time with her for anything in the world though...
Anyway, I definitely hope you get that nap you mentioned. It sounds like you deserve it! :)
That's the joy of being a grandparent. You get to send them home and take a nap.
Remember that 60 year old who had twins? She must be nuts.

I can't imagine having a grandchild for very long, no matter how much you love them...lol I don't think I could do it now...just not sure I would have the energy. It's hard enough taking care of all these doggies.
The ideal would be if I could just take her batteries out and set her on a shelf while I catch my breath! I'm always glad when she's coming, relieved when she's left, and happy I had some time with her. So it's really a WIN WIN situation. LOL
I didn't know they came with batteries! Do yorkies too?

Just wait, Janet! Just wait!!! After you get your first grandchild you'll be so excited to have him or her over. When they get older though, you'll understand what we're talking about.
I love having the kids over it's just that their energy wears me out. And I don't think that I would mix newborn puppies and little kids! They both take too much energy!!!
Diana, you brought back a memory for me of (1976) when I was breeding German Shepherds. I had AKC 3 females and my own male at the time.
One female came into heat, got bred, then disappeared. I didn't know if she'd been stolen or wandered off, but 2 weeks of hunting for her did no good.
A second female came into heat, so I bred her. Less than a week later the first female came back home.
We lived on a farm at the time and my oldest dd was about 2 yrs old. The first litter was 13 puppies. Less than 3 weeks later, we had the second litter of 16 pups! So there I was with a pre-schooler, 4 adult dogs, and 29 puppies! Talk about a circus!
The hardest part of this was that both females seemed to think that all the pups were theirs, so if they got the chance, would steal each others puppies and fight over them. To avoid this, we had to keep all of them firmly contained and separated. It wasn't too bad when they were newborns, but can you imagine what it was like when they were 4 and 6 weeks old? OMG I thought I'd go nuts. LOL
I ended up inviting friends and family over as often as possible to help me properly socialize them because there were simply too many to handle.
I was very relieved when the last of them were sold. LOL

Oh I know, I'll be so excited when the first one comes for sure (it just better be awhile.) I just don't know if I'll have the patience for too long at a time. Seems like the older I get, the less patience I have...LOL I never use to have patience at all and then when my son came along, everyone was shocked at how much patience I really did have. As long as he teaches them how to behave, I will love having grandchildren.
I must have been wore out. I took a 2 hr nap yesterday afternoon, then fell asleep on the couch before 9 last night... got up after 9 this morning and still took a 2 hr nap again this afternoon!
I should soon be well rested, don't ya think? :o

Can't imagine what it would be like to have grandchildren. It won't be anytime soon, though, I'm sure. Both our girls have quite a bit of education to get out of the way and things to do before settling down with children. Women in our family tend to wait a while, even after marriage, which I believe is a good thing. Gives you time to adjust to being married before bringing those energetic little people into the mix.
When the time is right, though, I'm sure they will be incredible....and probably a tad spoiled, by us at least.:p
I agree with that Marilyn. My dd was 26 when she had her first, 31 when she had the second. I was glad she'd waited that long.
