Bay ~ my horse lives down the hill, a minute drive from my home. Anyway, recently a good friend of mine and her hubby finalized their divorce (amen!)...So, the land owner (being a typical man) sided with my gf's ex and is kicking Bay out of the pasture so he can bring his horses into the pasture. Yadda yadda yadda the story could go on forever about this. But I wont bore you with all those silly stories.
I called a friend and he is to come over this week and draw out the details on building us a shelter for Bay and fencing on our own yard to house Bay. It's really great to now be having Bay on my own property. My only concerns is that the area the horse will be in isn't very large. His footing will pretty much destroy the grass there now. if I add a couple chickens, a goat, and park a broken down car there, I will have all the neccesities of being labeled as white trash. LOL!!!! Oh well....Atleast I wont have to ever again have to deal with all the "horse - people" issues that I've been dealing w/ the past couple of years.

You'll enjoy having him close by to keep an eye on. Sorry that things didn't work out to keep him in the bigger pasture. You'll just have to ride him more often to exercise his legs!!!

I'm so excited that Bay will be coming home soon! :) I bet you'll just love having him closer, even if your grass doesn't look perfect. Even with chickens and a broken down car, I doubt you'd ever be labeled "trash" of any kind. You are far too special! :)

I agree Sheryl and just think Bay is close enough to give all those extra hugs.

I'm happy that Bay is coming home. You will be able to check on him whenever so much easier. You haven't shared any pictures recently of him either...come on girl, we want pictures.
Also, is there any way in the future you can purchase some land near yours to give him more room?
Wonderful news! Happy for you and Bay... What a wonderful Christmas present.

A year or so ago we asked this land owner about buying some land behind us and this rental house. Well, hubby and I felt he was asking too much for the house for us to turn get it into good working condition so we can in turn find renters for it.
So we marked off the land we wanted to buy, appx 5 acres and he isn't ready to sell it yet. **frustrated** So, this is why we are just building a horse area on our own property. Which trust me isn't much at all, LOL. It will be a tight squeeze for everything.
But in the end it will all be good. I can't wait.

Well, I'm sure it will be just fine. Who knows...maybe this landowner will end up selling to you soon.

I hope so Janet. I am sure he has his reasons. LOL - Don't we all for everything we do or don't do. :D
Sheryl, I hope this works out well for you. At least now you'll be able to look out your window and see your Bay. I bet he'll enjoy being closer to you as well.

You are so funny Diana. Hubby is making some calls to get the iron fence bars so he can begin welding. The weather looks absolutely crummy until Sunday so not sure how much can be done in the next day or so. But, it's a start so that's good!

Well...Change of plans. Before Robert began marking off the yard this past weekend for our horse, he thought he'd talk to the land owner one more time about buying a hunk.
Well...The land owner says "You don't want that land, it's too hilly for your horse and a barn. But ya see that area in front of your house? I'll build a stall and tie it off w/ barbed wire. That'll give ya enough room for ya horse. I'll just charge ya a monthly rent to try to get back the costs of building the stall".
Huh?????? Dazed and asking hubby a million questions as he only talked to hubby about this (I hid in the garage) I wasn't sure if maybe he'd sale us this chunk he was planning on building a stall or not? Come to find out, nope he STILL doesn't wanna sell any of it. But he will build the stall, we will string the barbed wire, and it will be done by Feb. 1st when Bay's gotta get off the pasture he's on now.
So...at this point I don't know what the rent will be. I don't know what his intentions are for doing any of this and it sorta makes my head spin. And I don't know a thing about stringing barbed wire but I think I'm gonna be learning real quick here. I have to say, this section of land is real nice, it's flat. And another good thing is our yard wont be torn up by Bay. Plus, his new pasture will be just steps from our front door so that's such a bonus too!
Anyway...he's normally such a grump of an old man. So I really wanna know if he's doing this for goodness outta his heart?, or he's gotta plan up his sleeve? I just don't know, LOL....Guess I'll be finding out wont I??

Maybe the Christmas Angels sent him to you Sheryl. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth..LOL Don't really know what that saying means, but since you have a horse, just thought I'd throw it in.
Sounds like things are coming together for you and Bay. Don't question good intentions.

Oh my gosh, that is funny Janet!!!! Good one there!! :D
Anyway - I guess it's just hard to explain this person. Even other's who live here are questioning his actions. Wondering if it's a control over the area here or something.
But you are right...I need to give him the benefit of the doubt and be trusting of his actions. I guess it's hard when hubby and I have been burned out here. What do I have to loose right?

Sheryl, i think it's a good thing, and just think, if it doesnt work out, you can always go with your original plan. Maybe the guy saw "the light" LOL

Sheryl, I think that your husband needs to talk to this man about how much rent he's going to be wanting for this. You would hate to feel obligated to pay a high rent that you weren't expecting to pay.
That would be an ideal setting for you and your horse and I'm glad that it's working out. Just make sure that there aren't any surprises after he gets it built.
