I hooked up my ancient desktop and, surprise! It works....so while I'm waiting for the verdict on my laptop, I can at least talk with my friends here.

After going through some serious withdrawal symptoms, I dragged out the parts I had put away from this PC and said...I'll be darned if I'm going to let a computer glitch keep me away.

I am definitely electronically challenged right now. It must be karma. I don't remember if I told you, but my mp3 player fell into the dog's water dish in the middle of the computer nonsense.

I'm afraid to start my car!

I love the new options here, but I'm going to wait until I get a better computer. This one is really slow. My chiropractor doesn't want me to use it - it makes my neck hurt, amd then she has to fix it.

I'm so glad you are able to get online until your other one gets fixed. Don't ya just love all the new features?

You better keep an eye out for Kat....she's wanting to get you ya know!

Oh good (big sigh), you're back on!!! I thought that I was going to have to get your phone number from Janet and check up on you!!! Would you have been surprised? I hope that everything gets to working again without much expense. We have days where it seems like everything decides to break all at once! Makes my husband really unhappy when it's machinery.

Didn't I tell you I was afraid to go in my car yesterday? I'm just having bad electronic karma lately.

I was backing into a parking spot when I got hit by this guy making a U turn! Both his front and my rear bumpers are dented.

I told him to forget about it - my car is a 96 Celica with its share of dents. Driving in NYC is not good for anybody's car.

What's going to happen next? I may just hide in my house for a while and only touch non-electrical stuff.

My computer guy told me that worst case scenario, my laptop will need a new motherboard (that always sounded dirty to me), which should cost about $200. Let's see - I already spent $240 to have it fixed and for the adapter - if we add another $200, that'll be $440.
Hmmm! For another couple of hundred, I could have bought a whole new computer!!!

What do you think of that!

Sorry about your computer and your car. If we only had foresight instead of hindsight, then we wouldn't have problems like this!!!

Spoke to my computer guy. The diagnosis is the motherboard - cost: $275.00 He tried to talk them into doing it for nothing, since they sold him the adpter for me - no way they said. He says it's worth it considering a new one would cost me between $600-700.

Kind of sucks, but I can't get too upset over it. I think my lamp shorting out actually caused the damage. (I didn't tell him that).

So - 240
+275
$515.00

What is there to say?
