I can not tell you how happy I am that tomorrow is the last day of school. :D

I need the time off from some of these kids. I wasn't quite as patient this year as in the past. I think with age comes the lack to tolerate some of the teenage behavior especially if it's disrespectful or an attitude of just not caring.

Hopefully, I can go back next year with a renewed hope for these kids...if not, then I'm afraid it will be time for me to move on to something else.

No more getting up at 5:30 to get kids ready for school! Since I still have about a month before I go back to work it will be a nice break.

wow, you guys finish early. We have school until the 23rd of June. I can not wait for this year to be over. I feel like I live in my car. I drive Kevin and Megan to the HS at 7:30, pick Megan up at 1:30 and take her to the Performing Arts HS, pick up Kevin at 2:30 and pick up Megan at 3:30. Next year will be even worse Megan will get picked up at the regular HS at 9:30 and then picked up at the PA HS at 12:30 and driven back to the regular HS.....it's still two years until she gets her driver's license and I'm counting the months!

Enjoy your vacation! I should have been a teacher or bus driver or something school related. I could use a couple months off!

An older woman asked her friend's daughter, who was a teacher, "which part of teaching do you enjoy the most?"

She smiled sweetly and replied "June, July and August."

I don't know if we have that particular song, but I'm going to check.

I really don't do too bad for not playing it very often. It's fun trying.

For us, and I think that Janet's school is about the same, the kids get out around May 22 (this year) and don't have to go back to school until about August 15, give or take a few days. It's about 3 months.

Wow three months think I would have been pulling my hair out with my kids home so long. How do working mums cope must cost you a fortune in child care do the state help out?.

It's really a screwed up mess for some people. There are quite a few moms that don't work and love having the kids home. For alot of the others, they work, put the kids in childcare and yes, it does cost a lot, or the older kids just run around with the possiblity of getting themselves into trouble with little to no supervision. Seems more and more families want 'things' instead of good wholesome families.

Do you all have year round school? How does school work there?

I am really lucky. My daughter is ten now so she can pretty much take care of her self when I am working. My 17 year ol son is here in case something happens she needs him. Summer day care is expensive.

My girls had nice summers. They stayed with a friend who had other children at her home, so they got to play and she would take them to the $1.00 afternoon movie, to water parks, to the beach. I wish I could have been the one taking them to those places, however that was not how things worked out for us. I had to pay my friend + the expenses for the outings. She is licensed to care for children in her home and provided healthy meals and snacks. She picked them up after school for us too, until they were older, then hubby and I took turns picking them up and running them home after school. There were a couple of times when we got our wires crossed and no one picked them up. Melissa stayed at her middle school until 5 pm one afternoon. They had locked her out of the school. Fortunately she handled it well, and nothing happened.

And the government does not help with the expenses unless you meet certain low income standards, which most working 2 parent homes do not.
