I love the upstairs balcony and the views from outside balcony!!!!
I am going to be living on the deck! Can you imagine having your morning coffee out there?
I spent the morning on the phone with the mortgage broker, realtor, talking the mover down on price, etc.
At this point, my moving date is July 27th, and the closing is July 25th.
I'm so excited, but so nervous! I'm not stressed, just nervous. This is all so new to me.
Here's the blurb from the real estate company:
EXTRA SPACIOUS TOWNHOUSE
This beautiful two bedroom townhouse is about the same size as many three bedroom townhomes, and all the living spaces are large, bright and gracious. The step-down living room with soaring, double-height ceiling leads to a huge private deck with mountain and woodland views. The eat-in kitchen with newer appliances (including just installed new range and microwave) is open to the living area and has an enclosed laundry closet with new washer and dryer.
The gorgeous, hand-wrought railing on the second floor landing is replicated from a railing in a French abbey. Efficient monitor heating keeps all rooms at an even temperature. There's also a full but unfinished basement with exterior access. Pool and tennis court use are included, as is exterior maintenance (painting, roof repair/replacement, deck repair/replacement, landscaping, road maintenance, snow plowing).

Please can I book my holiday now please please:D
Yes, just give me a few days notice! You can all come to visit.
Soon, we have to talk about decorating.
I think day 1, I'll just make up the bed, feed the animals and go to sleep.
Day 2 - food shopping and cleaning person to give the cabinets, drawers, etc, a good scrub down.
Day 3 - unpack the necessities and go swimming in the pool.

Judy, your house is beautiful. I see you are from Brooklyn, NY. Where are you moving to? My husband is a ret. NYC Police officer out of Brooklyn. He retired out of the 62 pct. but worked the 71 and 78. Elaine
Great choice Judy!
Spacious and comfy at the same time.
I hope you really enjoy it!

He was on Bath Avenue - that's a busy place, but it seemed like a pretty good neighborhood. How were the 71 and 78?
I have total respect for police officers! They put their lives on the line for us.
Were you ever a Brooklyn girl, or always a Jersey girl? Gina and I are Brooklyn girls.
I'm moving up to Roxbury, NY, which is close to Windham - It's so beautiful.

I love it. I have been a Realtor for 25 years and I know how stressful it can be for a buyer, but please relax, it will all work out fine. Good Luck

Thanks Donna. I think I'm getting over the stress.
The closing will be when it will be, and I decided that everything does not have to be perfectly done!
In other words, screw it! I'll get there soon, and hopefully with all my stuff.

So you're not sure when you get to move in yet? That's okay...it would be fun thinking about it and how you would arrange everything. I think it would be so great moving.....but to a much bigger place than what I have....LOL.

The stress is understandable because buying a home is one of the biggest investments that we make, but, you are not in control, it is the Realtor, Loan Officers, etc. They have to do their job and you can't do it for them.
"Easy for me to say?" I am a control freak and want to make sure everyone knows what they are doing. You might have this personality, hope not, it is stressful. Things will work out, can't wait for you to close and get in that house and on the deck.

My mortgage broker is a control freak. I really appreciate that about her. She's terrific. My realtor is also really good. Whatever I ask him to find out or do, he's right there. My lawyer - eh - but he does his job. There was a death and the whole law office was closed, so I'm assuming it was somebody close to them. That probably was what he was focused on.
I'm having the appraisal done Tuesday or Thursday (a "T" day) and as soon as that's written up, and the signed contract is sent to my mortgage broker, the bank can sign off on the mortgage. All the paper work for the mortgage has already been done.
I don't know if anything else has to be done, but I went to the beach yesterday with a friend and had a lovely day.

Hi Judy. 71 and 78 pct. were shit houses. LOL. Hubby's description not mine. No, I've always been a Jersey Girl. Born and raised on the Jersey Shore. Marrying a Brooklyn man let alone a Brooklyn cop has been an experience. Remember, I'm just a beach girl from Jersey. LOLOLOL. And not only did I marry a Brooklyn guy, but a Brooklyn cop and an Italian no less. And, my two boys have their father's Brooklyn accent and mouth. LOLOL.
Good Luck, with your new home. Elaine.
Oh Elaine your in big trouble a Brooklyn guy, retired cop and ITALIAN!! I feel for you j/k. Where is your hubby from in Bklyn?, how old is he? maybe we went to school with him , as Judy mentioned we are both born and raised Bklyn girls and I am italian to...oh boy...lol We should meet with Judy, myself and Teri before Judy moves. We can do lunch by Pier Village that would be nice.. What do you girls think?
Judy good luck with your appraisal here in NJ you don't get your mortgage commitment until your appraisal is done.

It took me years to get to be this way Angie! I love your hair in the picture.
Hi Judy. 71 and 78 pct. were s*** houses. LOL. Hubby's description not mine. No, I've always been a Jersey Girl. Born and raised on the Jersey Shore. I think that's a perfect match! The Italian boys were so gorgeous to us Brooklyn girls! We were always lusting after them. He "got off the block" by marrying a Jersey girl. It was very important which block(s) you were from, and often you were expected to marry and stay at least close to "the block," if you were Italian. Jewish girls, like I was, were expected to marry only Jewish boys and move to Long Island, have nose jobs and be really snotty b******.
These were some of the many Brooklyn rules during the baby boomer days. Don't blame me - I didn't make them up!

Gee, I love reading about these Jersey, Brooklyn, Jewish, Italian rules!!! Sounds like a TV show..so tell more!

It was such a wonderful place to grow up! There were so many kids! We were the baby boomers, and we had so much fun!!!
I will tell you more Brooklyn stories. Gina - you have to help me out here.
One thing I will tell you - we had the absolute best egg creams in the entire universe! Our pizza was also amazing. Brooklyn food was so good. We would cut out of school early when it got warm, and take the train to Coney Island.
We would go to Nathan's and have hot dogs and their fries, which have never been duplicated! They also had chow mein sandwiches, which consisted of chow mein and noodles on a hamburger bun. Disgusting isn't it? But - so good.

Maybe there's still hope for me. I don't know if I could ever give up my excel documents and color coded calendars though. In some ways, I am overly organized, but it helps me feel more relaxed about the future that way. Maybe with time I'll become more laid back. I worry WAY too much about the details...
Thanks for the compliment! I dressed up and took pics for Brendon as part of his anniversary gift. He really enjoyed it.

Like Janet, I love hearing about you growing up in Brooklyn. Big difference between your childhood and ours on a So Tx farm.
I just had one scarey visit to Brooklyn, but one thing I remember about my visit to Coney Island was the soft serve ice cream. They had pistachio. I couldn't believe it. Around here the only soft serve we get is vanilla or chocolate. We have lots of other flavors of ice cream, of course, but that's all that we have in soft serve. I got a big pistachio waffle cone. Sooooo good!!

And therein lies my laid back attitude. I'm also extremely organized. I've been packed for a good 2 weeks now, I'm ordering cable/phone/internet today, etc., etc. I really think being organized leads to so much less stress. At some point in my life, I realized that I can be organized without thinking about it and never worrying about it and I went right into laid back.
By the way, my friend told me that I've gone beyond organized straight to OCD
when I told her I was packing up 2 weeks ago. I laughed, but I still have no stress!!!
Keep your color coding and spreadsheets....
