My poor mother is having a garage sale. My niece helped her get everything out for sale. She had it today and is having it again tomorrow. I feel so bad for her though...every time she has a sale, she hardly makes enough to cover the ad in the paper. Today she said she made $20. She just doesn't understand she said her junk is just as good as mine....ROFLMBO!!!!!!:D:D

I've tried telling her that she needs to keep her prices low, but my Mother seems to think she should get pretty much what she paid for it if it's still in good shape. Since she said she was taking the leftover to the Salvation Army or Good Will, I suggested she take whatever someone is willing to give her, that way she doesn't have to pack it up and haul it. Not sure what she'll do, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed she makes more tomorrow. I may even go in and sit with her if I don't give the dogs their bath.

Well, I don't think she's going to do well today either. It is pouring down rain and is suppose to rain like this ALL day long. I feel so bad for her. She's been wanting to have this sale and it's just not doing well for her.

awww, poor mom. You really do have to price it to sell. We had one last month. I know people got some real bargains because I was NOT putting anything back. I took whatever they wanted to pay and we made out really well. I hope your mom does ok with hers. They are a LOT of work!

That's too bad after she's gone to all the work of getting it all ready. Maybe next weekend will be better.

I thought about going to garage sales this morning but like you.....it's raining. Then Glen had a flat on his pickup and took my Tahoe so after that I didn't even have a choice......I'm home!

My MIL would put antiques in her sister's garage sales and then expect to get high prices for them. She never sold very much either. She'd keep it all in a box until the next garage sale then bring it all back out again!!!!

I once went to a garage sale in town with a couple of older ladies and they had all kinds of plastic stuff for sale. Like plastic cups from restaurants, butter tubs, old square freezer bowls and lids. I felt so bad for them.......but I bet they had a lot more room in their cupboards!!

One garage I had a few years back I literally gave things away to get rid of it! And I am talking a nice sewing machine that was rarely used, good stuff... but I did not want to take it back in house. Then boxed the remainder and put in front of house with 'free sign' on it. Was gone before I got back to garage. Saved me a trip tp Goodwill!!

A garage sale is a lot of work. I hope your moms turned out good.

Well, at least Mom made a profit this time....LOLOL She made a grand total of....(drum roll please....) of $19.75 after paying for her add in the paper. I think my son is going to go load it up and take it to Goodwill for her.

Wow - what is she going to do with her new found wealth?!

Even though she didn't make a lot of money, at least stuff like this keeps her active.

Is she happy with her fortune? At least she cleaned out some stuff. I always donate my stuff, usually to one of two womens' shelters. Trouble is, I have to bring it to them and it was just too much stuff preparing for this move.

This time, I just bagged up tons of pretty good stuff and put it in the basement.
My super has to go through the stuff, so I figured he would find some use for it, sell it, or give it away. I never asked him because I thought he might be embarrassed.

I still had some stuff left to get rid of when I packed and I'm having the Salvation Army come on Wednesday. Whatever they don't want, I'll drag down to the basement. We don't have "stoop sales" in my neighborhood. If we did, I would have given it all away by the end.

Mother called this afternoon and said she was even richer...LOL. These people that were there yesterday and bought some of her clothes came back today and asked if she had anything left and if they could go through it again. She made another $8.00.

Ricky and I will be going in to her house tomorrow to load it all up. Some of it she wants to go to the Salvation Army and some of it to Goodwill.

I use to suggest to Mom where she could donate, but she has a mind of her own so I just try to be a good daughter and do what I'm told...LOL

Awww, Janet you are a good daughter!!! At least she took the initiative to do this. So many her age just give up.

Not my Mother...lol. She's a stubborn one for sure and I know she's where I got it from.

I just love your stories about your Mom, Janet. She is so feisty and does things her own way!

It's sounds like your Mom didn't do too bad. I bet that she's feeling so much better for getting stuff cleaned out! Sometimes it's just not about the money. I think that your Mom sounds like a very interesting person! I wish that my Mom had a little more spunk! She didn't get it but some of her sisters sure did! One of these days when I come to visit I want to meet your Mom!

BTW--I had another dream that you came and visited me!
