Okay all, here are some pictures I took of different spots around Frankfort.
I think there are quite a few...so here goes..lol
The first two are of our courthouse. It is located in the center of downtown Frankfort.

The next two are of the high school I attended and graduated from...

First is our hospital and nex it our Police Dept. (it use to be the post office)
3982 3985
The next two are our library. It's really a beautiful library inside and out, but the former director had the most horrible landscaping done. It hides the library.

This is a mural downtown. It was painted by a local artist. You can see the founder John Pence and his wife and on the other wall is Will Geer of Walton's fame (he grew up here) and also the author of the Dick and Jane books is from Frankfort.

Here are some pictures of our park. I do have to boast that this park is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. I can't show all the pictures, but here are some.

This log cabin use to be the phone office out here where I live. They moved it to the park in Frankfort.

The next two pictures are of the highway that runs through town heading west. The high school pictures I posted earlier are behind these pictures to the east

This is the house I lived in from the time I was born in 1955 till I married in 1974. Mom and Dad built this house and it was in a field...lol. Mom still lives there. Ususally her camper and station wagon are in the drive, but she's camping this weekend.

Here is our church. It is just 2.5 miles from our home. I haven't been there for awhile..long story, but I hope to start back soon.

Can you guess who lives at this house???

Gayle the other field is planted with soybeans. That's pretty much the crop in Indiana and our county...corn and soybeans.

I thought it was soybeans, but didn't want to sound stupid if it wasn't  I grew up on the farm, but we didn't have soybeans, just wheat, corn, cotton, and feed that we called maize.

Maize is also called milo or grain sorghum. My husband grows this stuff. It's used for feed for pigs and chickens. Is this it?

Yep, that's it - what my granddad called maize. I'm sure milo is the new and improved plant - this was back in the 50's (wow, I'm old!).
Back then we didn't have a combine and couldn't afford to hire the feed cut by a combine. I remember the men in the field with sickles, cutting down the stalks at the ground and then they placed them with the heads up in a shock form, bottoms of the stalks out and heads together propping it up - here's a link to a picture of a corn shock http://family.webshots.com/photo/1023748010010311040KnxlTRAoZW I couldn't post the picture.
Then they would come back and cut the heads off - and I don't remember what they did with them then - took them off to market I guess because they disappeared!
Goodness, that was a long time ago.

Yes, Mandy, it's a very small 2 bedroom and she and my father raised us four kids in it. Very crowded..indeed. I would love to see pictures of your town Mandy and the rest of you all too.

Janet,
I love your idea of pictures of our towns.
My camera finally quit right after I posted Annie's pix. Canon sent me a refurbished camera for $100 because I wasn't under the warranty anymore.
I have it in my bag and want to take pictures of my new area. It's just beautiful.

We raise corn, soybeans, wheat, and milo (like what's pictured). We don't have any cattle because we don't hardly have any pasture and we enjoy having the winter off. Cattle are a lot of work and you have to feed them every day so we're strictly grain farmers. In our area we also have some sunflowers grown and they are SO pretty when they're blooming. If you go south a little ways you'll find a little bit of cotton but not much. Farmers also put up hay around here and we have a little bit from a meadow near the house.
Right now we're waiting to dry up from all of the rain then Glen will be busy, busy with harvest. We have corn that's more than ready to pick and a little while before the other crops are ready. Wheat is cut in the spring so that's already taken care of. It's a very different life than having an 8-5 job.

I have quite a few pix already, but I'm not finished. It's fall foliage season up here and it is just breathtaking!
I have pulled onto the shoulder of the road quite a few times and just clicked away.
