Ladies.. I usually don't vent at all, BUT I am going to scream.. You all know that I had problems with my teeth and had to go through so much dental work and soo much money.. Well I was at the surgeon to get the ok for dental work yesterday ,while I was there he took an exray he had to remove a bone in my gum that seemed to pop out of no where.. MY LUCK!!! that went fine just a little stiff this morning he had to put a stitch in.

Afterwards I went to my own dentist he is ready to start the bridge work for the implants on one side and he gave me my bill. Between the implants and crown work I could have brought a used luxury car. My insurance don't pay much so its out of pocket. Don't these dentists and specialists feel any remorse for charging so much money in this economy and they all want to get paid up front!!! Everything is going on charge cards but they have to get paid!!!!! I just hope that when this is all done, I will be happy with the implants.

Thank you girls I feel better venting !!! Please say a prayer that nothing else will go wrong with my teeth . I can't afford it....

I'm so sorry that you're having dental problems. That's bad enough without worrying about the bill. I don't understand why some things have to cost so much but like other doctors we can probably blame it on malpractice insurance.

I hope that it doesn't take too long Gina to get all this dental work behind you. I just can't imagine having all that work done. I hadn't been to a dentist in my life until after I was married. My mother.....oh well. I made sure I started Ricky early and now after his braces, his teeth are really beautiful. I'll probably go to my grave with what I have...can't afford the dental work.

Gosh Gina, that sux, i know it's VERY expensive... and just not fair!!
Who doesnt want beautiful teeth, and not everyone can afford to have a beautiful smile.

The insurence dont cover it which is not right in my eyes either, you have to pay a lot of money for insurence, but no one can really afford to get sick, because they end up paying towards treatment. It's just not right.

There was an expose on dentists a few years ago. I can't remember the group/organization who did it - but different people with known problems or known to have NO problems went to random dentists across the country and there was something like 80% of the visits recommended unnecessary procedures or charged too much or something was wrong. That's about all I can remember of the report, but I DO remember thinking that I'm not surprised at all!!! I've always thought that some dentists recommend things that aren't really necessary.

If you look at my haircut picture, you will see that my front teeth are slightly crossed - just a little bit (gives me character, :D IMHO). Anyway, a few years ago I went to a new dentist and was sitting in the chair. He has taken x-rays and everything was fine, no dental work needed. Just as I was getting ready to get up out of the chair. He said, "By the way, does the appearance of your front teeth bother you?" I was so taken aback that I said, "No, do they bother you?" He said, "No, but you do know that you can have them fixed so that they are perfectly straight, don't you?" I didn't say another word, picked up my purse and walked out of his office, never to return. That memory still infuriates me!!!

Gina, I think dental implants are really nice, and they are much much better than dentures and I don't blame you at all for getting them. But I think they are really overpriced. I realize it takes skill and all, but all that money!!!

I just read this Gina, and you know I feel the same way as you do! My teeth are my luxury car that I'll never get.

I finally have an appointment Monday. I've been waiting since September. I haven't finished paying the bill that was originally made up, but after stalking the Director for weeks, he said "don't worry about it." That could mean many things!
I am so hoping it means that I don't have to pay any more money.

All I can say is that if I had the funds, I would put them in my mouth...lol. I think someone with a great smile and nice teeth looks so wonderful. I wish I had concentrated on it more when I was younger.

Good luck Judy, I hope they give you a break. Let me know how it goes next week.

Janet it is more out of necessity I don't want to walk around with dentures, I had a partial for a few weeks and couldn't get use to it.
