It has been warm for the past week, so I haven't been plugging my car in. I haven't even thought of it! Last night I got home from grocery shopping at about 8... it was cold and dark, and I thought yep, time to plug in! I went around to the front of my car, and reached for my cord. Where was the plug? I felt the cord right to the end... the plug was gone! It couldn't have ripped off.. it comes down under my engine and is TIED to the grill on my bumper so it won't fall and hit the ground. It was still tied there, just the end was missing!
This morning it barely started. It was close to -40 overnight. It was not sounding very healthy when I turned the key... I had to hold it for about 5 seconds before it finally started kickin. I looked at the cord... it was a clean cut. Somebody had to have cut it right off. I'm pretty sure I have nobody who hates me enough to disable my car! Must have been just some kid. My roommate's friend had the same thing happen to her last week too. I have no idea where it could have happened because I have no idea WHEN it happened!
Anyways, I just went to three different stores to find a plug, everywhere was sold out. Of course it had to happen the day after my brother and my boyfriend both left town  So I'm going to attempt doing this myself. It doesn't look too hard... but wish me luck! It's -43 degrees with the windchill right now, so I just hope my poor fingers don't fall off because I can't do this with gloves!

Thanks Janet... I got it done! I just took a lot of breaks :) Went outside and stripped some wire, came in to warm up, finished stripping wire, came in to warm up, clamped wires in the plug, came in to warm up, and finally went back out to screw the plug together :D I feel all accomplished now though, fixing my car all by myself!

lol for my block heater, Gina. Most cars made in America don't even have them, but they are needed here! When the car gets too cold, it won't start ;) So we plug in the block heater to try to keep the engine from getting too cold. It has been warm for the past week (lows of only about -15 or -20 C overnight) so it wasn't too bad... but now we're back to a deep freeze! If I didn't get this done today, there's no way my car would have started tomorrow!

I am glad you were able to take care of it. I was really trying to figure out why you needed to plug in your car! LOL I just didn't think you would need it because of the cold but it make perfect sense. :)

Of course you did it! As my granddaughter says "Girls rule." I can't imagine the mindset of whoever cut off the plug.

PS (It's really "Girls rule, boys drool.")
