Lol I've never had squash either. I'm so jealous of everyone who has gardens in already! We got snow yesterday :(

You all have never eaten yellow crookneck or yellow summer squash?

zucchini is on the left, yellow or summer squash on the right. I have yellow summer squash in my garden, I don't care for zucchini.

Well, you all are missing it! Do the grocery stores carry it where you live? If so, you just buy 3-4 firm, not too big, yellow squash, slice them in about 1/4 inch slices, steam it till soft, but a little butter and salt, and viola! It's great!

Good garden soil (we bought at the garden center) and liquid seaweed is the trick, I think.

Thanks for the tips! I will have to try it sometime...though I have to admit I am a bit worried. But who knows? Maybe I'll love it! :)

It won't be long before you have squash because they show up right after the blooms!! I love crookneck squash!!! I like zucchini too but the crookneck has a little more flavor, I think. Steam a little onion with your crookneck then add your butter, salt, and pepper!!! Yum!!

I just bought a yellow squash. I just cut them up, with zucchini and tomato, a little salt, and some tuna or salmon. That has been dinner for the past couple of weeks, unless I'm cheating on my diet.

They are delicious! I love your garden, Gayle. It feels like you just planted it.

Lindsey - don't feel too bad., It snowed here on Sunday. Yesterday was in the 80's though.
