Hi all....lol As you all know, Mom is 87 years old, does kidney dialysis while she sleeps and has heart failure. There is this man that comes to my Mom's home every morning for coffee, he also helps take out her trash and odds and ends. He also makes the rounds to other women's homes too. He is married and is probably in his late 70's.

She had everything in her camper loaded up and then had him take her dialysis machine and supplies out to her camper this morning.......she decided to go camping this weekend at a campground near here with the campers club she belongs to. I went through a list of everything to make sure she had all she needed and told her to call if she needed anything. So far....no phone call so hopefully she remembered everything.

I sure hope I can be like her when I'm 87 and drive Ricky crazy....LOLOL

WOW Janet! That is just great that she even wants to go do things. Does she tow the camper or how does she get it to the campground?
I hope we all have her spunk when we're 87 lol!
It's nice of that guy helping your Mom out. Do ya think he might have a crush on her?;)

I don't know if he has a crush or not...and don't ask...lol. He helps other women too, but he is married. She pulls her own 19 foot travel trailer with a large station wagon. I'm glad she can do this, but she's making me a nervous wreck.

Janet, your mom is amazing!!!! My mom couldn't have done that 10 years ago, and there is NOTHING wrong with my mom!!! I know she drives you crazy, but she is living life to the fullest! I love it!

Yes...she is living life to the fullest and I'm thrilled, but nervous too. I would never ever tell her she couldn't go camping, she loves it. She won't let anyone else pull the camper for her so as long as she can do it safely....then I'll support her completely.

I would like to call her this morning to see how she did all night, but there isn't good phone reception where she's at. We had such bad storms early this morning, but I'm sure she is fine.

Janet, I agree with everyone else, you have an amazing mother!!! I know you are worried but this is better than her sitting in her house waiting for her phone to ring, remember we talked about that.
Sometimes they are just like our kids and we have to let them go and if they fall down just let them know that we are here to help them get back up.
I hope you hear from her soon so you can relax some. sometimes i think this is harder on us then it is them LOL

She is my idol! What a zest for life she has, although she may just give you a nervous breakdown!

Better this way than her laying in bed complaining. That is just as draining, or maybe even worse!

My mother was like yours, and when I look back, I am always so glad that she did so much living! She drove my father crazy too!

Janet, I agree with everyone else. This is absolutely fantastic that she can still be so active and independent. Way to go, Mom!!!!!! Awesome!! So glad that you are letting her enjoy herself like this, but do understand that you worry, or are concerned.

Oh my Janet...... she is such a role model, how fantastic that she has the strength to carry on with her life, despite her medical problems, and live a full life too.

I only hope I am steely enough to live like that, when i get older..... who am i kidding, i am not even like that now:rolleyes:

She is one special person, god bless her....

Having said all that, i can really understand how it must worry you too, as others have said, one day at a time. She must feel able to do it though Janet, so try not to worry too much.

Janet, I think that your Mom has given you more gray hair than your son has!!! Bless her heart!!! I think that it's great that she can get around like she does! My MIL is probably 10 years younger than your Mom and she can barely get around.....she has kitchen chairs with wheels and scoots herself around the house...barely. Enjoy your Mom's freedom because she might not always be able to do all these things!!........................And....give her a hug from me!! I think that she's adorable!!!
