Nope, she won't be able to go to Mexico. Well, she might be able to go there, but she won't be able to come back into Canada very easily! There would be a lot of quarantine involved. The only country animals can come from that don't require quarantine is the USA.

I feel like we have no choice but to maybe take her every single day until we leave. We're going to try to get there today before the vet tech leaves at the end of the day, so hopefully we can watch her try to express Layla too and see if she can get it. I really really really want this to work, but I am not sure if it will.

I know that it's a worry but I'm sure that they'll get it figured out, you've got plenty of time for them to learn. It sounds like you found a wonderful and caring place for her to stay!

Well, Scott stopped by with Layla on Saturday afternoon so they could try expressing her an extra time. The girl who tried is the girl who normally opens and closes, and would be expressing Layla twice per day I guess. She hadn't ever tried before. Scott said she immediately gave up and said she doesn't know how.

But in more positive news, the owner tried again this morning and got her about half empty. It's more than he has ever got before. It's a start! We planned to just take her tomorrow for the last time, but might take her for the rest of the week if they don't have a good handle on it. We did get some antibiotics from the vet as well, and we're giving them to her already. Hopefully it will prevent any infection from getting too bad while we're away.

Oh Lindsey you must be so worried... what about your vet? I know my vet boards as well and Layla would get excellent care there I would think.. but darn.
Sorry to hear about the problems expressing Layla... praying they get it soon.!!

We don't exactly trust our local vet... she's kind of the dumbest vet I've ever known She does do boarding for $25 per day, and I know she might be good at expressing Layla every day, but I know Layla would not be happy there. Our friends took their dog there for a week, and she came home extremely sick. The vet told them she had giardia and gave them tons of expensive medicine (she didn't have giardia). We only go to her now for rabies shots. For anything medical with any of our dogs, we take them to the college of veterinary medicine in the city. They have the best of the best specialists for everything there. Unfortunately, they don't do boarding, unless it's medically necessary for your animal to be there! Layla loves staying there (she has several times for medical reasons).

We are taking Layla to the kennel again tomorrow. I really wanted to take her for the rest of the week but Scott just doesn't want to "waste" the money

Lindsey, why dont you call the college, explain that you are concerned leaving Layla etc, maybe.....just maybe, they can help you, after all she does have special needs, so maybe they will understand - not sure of cost implications for you though.

Layla did very well I was worried the entire time, of course, but she was happy when we picked her up and she doesn't seem to have any bladder issues. She has been one tired dog though!!! I think there was a lot more noise and commotion than she is used to!

I'm glad to hear that all went well. I know that it's a worry to leave mine and mine don't have the problems that Layla has. You're a good mommy!

So how did the trip go otherwise? How are you feeling?

The trip was pretty good! I am glad to be home and not flying for a while now lol. I got so uncomfortable on the flights and just wanted to be able to stretch out!

I had some issues with my self esteem because I was SO excited to show off my cute baby bump on the beach in the two new bathing suits I bought, but after a few days I was sick of all the "Are you sure there's only one in there?" or "Wow, you are big!!!" comments It really put a damper on things. I love my bump and I hate that people were making me feel ashamed of it. I loved the dress I wore to the wedding, until my mom said "Oh I like that, it makes you look VERY pregnant!" and then my cousin chimed in "Yeah, it looks like you're hiding your gift under the dress!" .... That cousin is a nurse in labour and delivery, and as we were sitting down to eat that night, we were making small talk. She asked if I had any swelling and I said no, I've been lucky so far, but it will probably come later. She said "Yeah, and you are already looking really big! I mean, you look at LEAST 7 or 8 months pregnant already!!!" And I was so shocked all I could say was "What?? Really???" She should know, she sees pregnant ladies every day! Her hand flew to her mouth and she said "Oh, you didn't already know that??? I'm sorry!" and it made me cry I played it off as my contacts bothering me and I hope my family believed it (Scott did), but I was fighting tears through the whole meal when I just wanted to be there to be happy for my brother on his wedding day. It really hurt me though. Who says something like that? For the record, I don't think I am that large at all.

The wedding went really well and my sister in law was actually very nice to Scott and I, and I am really happy for them. It poured that day and they had to move the wedding from the beach to a little hut behind the beach, but it was still beautiful.

Scott and I did an excursion to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. It was a 14 hour long day and my body paid for it for about two days afterwards. I was SO sore! Thank goodness we had a jacuzzi tub in our room!

On my last day there, I got a bad sunburn on the beach (it looks like I'm wearing a white bathing suit under all my clothes now lol!) and I got stung by a bee or something on my thigh. I was ready to come home!

Lindsey I am happy you are back and Layla did well..

Also: Lindsey a pregnant woman is the most beautiful woman ever... enjoy your pregnancy and please don't let anyone's comments bring you down.
If anyone says you are large just smile and say 'yes, I am surrounding my baby with love and protection' for that is the truth!!!!

People can be rude and so often they take advantage of someone else's happiness.. stick that baby bump out proudly and feel secure in your pregnancy..

I'm surprised that someone that works with pregnant women would make such a comment. No woman carries a baby the same way. Some are carried more out front than others. With my son I was huge! With my daughters I was much smaller but it was all in the way they were carried. In fact a friend had her baby a couple of weeks before I had Amy and she informed me that my due date had to be off because she was much larger than I was. It ended up that Amy came 5 days early!

Just enjoy being pregnant.......it's the best feeling in the world to know that you have a precious baby growing inside of you! Everyone has differing thoughts about how thins should be.......just ignore them and take comfort in your good luck of becoming a parent! What an awesome time for you and Scott! You can't do anything about how your body changes.........just enjoy this time!

Thanks guys It means a lot for people to say nice things to me right now! I actually think my bump is really cute so it's hard to hear from other people that it's not!!! Whatever, I love our little baby. We know the sex now and we're calling it by name in private, which makes it a little harder to keep it under wraps around everyone else, but it helps me feel so bonded! I love our little one so much already.

Lindsey..... its lovely to hear that the wedding went off ok, no atmosphere etc.

I would just try to ignore what that woman said to you, as others have said, everyone is different, just enjoy your pregnancy, its so exciting and will go so quick now.

I am really happy Layla did good, i too was worried about her, she is a little star, i bet she is glad her mummy and daddy are back home though
