Oh man... ice is the worst!
We have snow and very cold temps... got down to -12 a couple nights... but I'd take this over ice anytime!
The pictures are neat Lynne, but I wouldn't want to walk out there under that ice. If they start falling it could hurt! I bet it's slick under them as well.

Be careful ladies!

I know!!! What's your weather suppose to be like? Are you going to get any of this freezing rain?

rivermom 12-10-2007 12:01 PM

Diana - my hubby did my travel work this am for me as it was iced over. Nothing bad now in my county as it's above freezing. It's just a soggy muddy mess and cold but no complaints as I realize it could be so much worse.

I heard your area in KS, OK, IN, and MO many places have been hit real hard.

Thank you for asking, I appreciate the thoughts. ;)

DianaB 12-10-2007 02:02 PM

We haven't been hit too hard yet but I'm afraid of what might be coming. We're suppose to have freezing rain tonight and tomorrow. I keep reading that Oklahoma is in bad shape. The Tulsa hospitals are on emergency power and people who are involved in accidents who are not injured are not suppose to even call them in. It sounds like they're very overwhelmed. I have an aunt in Ft. Gibson and I wonder how she's doing. They had a really bad ice storm last year and were without electricity for 2-3 weeks. Sure wish that I had a generator!!!!

Most of Norman is with out power. We have power at home but not at the office. Usually our weather people are wrong but this one was right on.

Most of the trees in the yard are on the ground. In fact I don't see any still up any where. Here is a link the some of the pictures I really hope my insurance covers the trees.

At work we have a large project where we only have a small window of time to work on. We are converting Life Church from SD to HD. They broadcast to 15 different cities. We have to complete the job by Friday. So of course the bad weather would come now.

My Dh works for OGE electric. So, he is not really happy about this at all.

I'm glad to hear that you have electricity. I hope that it stays on because I think you have more coming. Several years ago we had an ice storm where the trees were bent over like that. It was awful. We had trees cracking and breaking all night long. I had gone out in the yard to move my swing out from under a tree when a smaller tree snapped off right next to me. Scared me half to death!!! Some of the trees stood right back up after they were on the ground. It surprised us! Take care!!!!

As awful as it is out there, those pictures are magnificent! You got talent girl.
No trees, but talent.

Keep safe all of you. I'm sorry your weather is hitting you so hard. We had some rain drops here in Brooklyn.

I am going up to my daughter's tomorrow. She's way north, and the schools were closed today, but only the smaller roads are icy at this point.

Stay safe, keep warm, stay home!

Michelle,

those pictures are just amazing. For something so beautiful yet be so destructive just blows my mind. I am sorry about your landscaping.

Please be safe and keep warm.

Those pictures were beautiful Michelle. I know it must be hard to see everything that way. Back in Feb. of 1991 we had a bad ice storm and were without power for 2 weeks. Well most of the county was, hubby couldn't take it and finally found a generator..lol My son was only 2 months old at the time. We cooked on a camping stove, heated with our fireplace insert and got along just fine.

I had been use to camping since my younger brother and I were small enough to sleep on the same cot. Hubby on the other hand was about to go crazy.

Stay safe Michelle.

Janet, you are just too funny!!!! :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:

Beautiful pictures!!!

Y'all Notherners take care out there & stay safe!!!

Tink 12-11-2007 09:54 AM

What a mess!
My prayers are with you all to stay safe.
So far it's all staying south of me. It's been too cold here to rain. So we're on the upper edge of the storm but getting snow rather than ice. Just an hr or 2 south of us they are getting rain and ice and dh is out driving, so is NOT a happy camper. I guess he's going to be waiting it out in a truck stop rather than getting his miles and making his delivery times. Thank God he's smart enough to just pull over and do that.

Marilyn 12-11-2007 11:27 AM

Michelle, I had not seen your pictures when I made the earlier post. Sure hope when things thaw out, some of your trees will be salvagable. It's amazing sometimes how trees can heal when we think they are a loss. We see it from hurricanes. Trees are broken and bent, but a year later, you would never know.

Wishing all you in the ice and snow warmth, safety, and electricity very soon!!!

Tink 12-11-2007 12:32 PM

Wow Michelle, I'd missed your photos too. How nasty!
Ice is beautiful to look at, but so dangerous to deal with.
