Obama won't be able to end the war 'just like that', no candidate can, no matter what they promise. I would be afraid of the catastrophic events that could happen if we were to 'just pull out.' I want our soldiers home too, but we need to bring them home...for good.

We have to go by our gut feeling and from our own research....it's really all we have, because we can't believe every thing we read or hear. Even when they talk about the voting that each candidate did for certain laws..etc...there are reasons...maybe there was more good than bad in the bill that was being voted on, but the candidates pick out the one thing or hot topic that they hope will screw their opponents chances. So before believing these accusations...check out the whole bill first. This was just an example.

It's a lot of work figuring out the best person for the job and if one does it by just reading the newspaper or listening to the ads on TV then they won't be able to make an intelligent vote. This goes for both sides.

This is going to be one of the most 'take sides' elections with more arguements between friends, family members and strangers AND I think have more people voting than in many previous elections. I for one, wish it was over with.

Janet, i agree with you on the war, people expect an instant solution and that is simply not possible...
however, i don't know what "bill" you are talking about i was talking about his heavy involvement in the church of rev. wright... which is very disturbing to me as he said that we deserved 9/11 and countless other horrid things... it's hard for me to side with a candidate who if he ddn't share those views didn't quit the church that preached them

No Nicole...lol...I was just using the 'bill' example as to why people should not go solely by that how they vote for bills and other legislation. I agree with you on the Rev. Wright issue. I'm not standing up for Obama, he's not my man...LOL...as of yet. There is still too much time for other things to come out to make too early a decision.

Here is a link that has some very interesting reading. This is a qoute from it..

What will the media and McCain do with a tale of obama serving as a paid board director of a group that calls Israel's existance a "catastrophe."

The groups was called "The Weather Underground Organization"

Here is another link from Foxnews about it as well.

I have a serious problem with this. This group was also involved in bombing Us Gov buildings.

I agree with you. :)

It will be interesting to see what they (Obama and McCain) choose to say about each other.

I love this election. It's history in the making. I guess that's because I really have nothing bad to say about any of the candidates. I do want Obama, but McCain is a good man. I just want the war to end.

I am happy that Hilary didn't make it and that Obama did. In my opinion it will be a close race. Like some have mentioned Obama is not going to end the war that quickly if at all. I to wish it would end but its not that easy...

Obama's wife and what has been coming out is worrying me also. I agree with the above. I like McCain and hopefully he will win.. Sorry to my friends who are for Obama... Just my opinion of course.

I goofed

Janet 06-09-2008 03:45 AM

Someone PM'd me and asked me why I 'goofed' so I thought I'd better explain...LOL. Sometimes my mind tries to do 2 things at once,:thumbdwn:so here I was typing here and thinking of another thread that I just came from. If you would have read what I posted, it would have made no sense with this thread and then you REALLY would have thought I was nutso!!!

You don't already think that do you... Nah!!! Must be my insecurities busting out....:D

I think that my biggest problem with Obama is, where does his allegience lie? He has too close of ties to other countries to be 100% for America. That greatly concerns me.

Since this is a friendly debate thread ...lol See what Judy says , she and millions of others including myself want the war to end...

Is this feasible? You just can't end the war that quickly, IMO we will have more of 911 in our country if that happens. They are not human and have no regard for human life.. So if we bring home our troops be prepared to have our country attacked .. God forbid..

What is the solution ? What are your thoughts?

Janet 06-19-2008 04:51 AM

He does make one wonder whether he is or not Haley.
