Sounds like your having a great time.. Glad you both got to meet each other. :)

Janet 10-19-2008 02:31 AM

I was so tired last night after our busy day. My son wasn't due home until about 10 PM and I can't go to bed until I know he is home safe and sound. Finally he got home and I was able to go to sleep, but it sucks that I woke up early this morning. It does give me time to get on the computer more and play catch up though.

It's been quite chilly here and this morning I can feel the sinuses draining. Hopefully it won't bother me too bad once I take something for it.

Not sure what we are going to do today....LOL...Frankfort is just not a real touristry place with lots to do....especially on a Sunday.

Diana has been enjoying the dogs, but let me tell you I'm ready to knock them in the head...lol. I had warned her that they are usually pretty quiet for the most part, except when someone new is in the house. Sure enough, every time Diana moves, yawns..etc...these dogs go nuts barking. Diana has been so sweet and says it doesn't bother her at all. I think it helps that they just love her and want to be with her, on her all the time.

Sounds like you girls are having a blast! How nice she went to see you...Enjoy the rest of your time together and drive safe going home Diana!

HURRAY!!!

What a wonderful thing that you two are having a weekend together!!!

You both look so happy and so lovely together. This just made my day!

I was very suspicious (as Janet knows!), but you were great at keeping it a surprise.

I hope you took lots of pictures.

:partytime::photo::bighug:ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!!!:bighug::photo::partytime:

So glad you are having a wonderful time together!!!!!! Wish it wasn't cold already. The weather here is perfect right now. We cooked and ate outside yesterday. Our children were all home to visit, so it was a really nice time.

Diana, be careful driving home!!!!!

DianaB 10-19-2008 05:07 PM

I left Janet's about 2:30 this afternoon and I found a nice hotel just about the time that it started getting dark. I went and ate at Applebee's that's right beside the hotel and now I'm all safe and sound back in my room. I didn't make it half way but far enough that tomorrow should be pretty easy. I think that I'm going to do a little shopping in this town before I leave. I really need to stop at Penny's and get a gift for someone.

Actually, we didn't take too many pictures and we took two pictures when we took that one and that was all that we took together. I was really kicking myself after I left that I didn't at least get one before I left. I did stop at a few buildings and take some pictures before I left and almost got lost doing it because my directions are totally turned around!!!! It's a good thing that I have one of those direction things in my Tahoe or I'd be in Canada!!!!

Janet and I had so very much to talk about!! It was almost non-stop at times!!!! We laughed and laughed and really enjoyed being together!! We agreed that it was so nice to not have to type everything on line but to do it in person!!

Her dogs were certainly friendly and I had at least one in my lap all the time!!! I loved it!!! Especially since I was missing Reuger. I tried to get Joey tucked inside of my jacket before Janet caught us so I could bring him home but Janet caught me anyway!!! I don't think that I would have gotten very far with him anyway!!!

I especially loved seeing the bowling alley and I'll never forget where it's located!!!!! I found it on my own!!! We took a tour of Janet's communtiy and we shopped at some flea markets and garage sales but mostly just had a great time being together. We decided that it was definitely something that we're going to have to do again in the future!!!

gja1000 10-19-2008 07:03 PM

Gosh! I know you all had a wonderful time. I met up with someone on the yorkie boards this summer in Alaska. It felt like we had known each other for years because we had "talked" so much online. It is just so much fun to finally meet someone with whom you have shard so much!

I'm so glad that you all had such a great time! I hope you get to do it again.

Janet, you live in such a GREAT location - I had to look it up and if I inputed the correct city (Frankfort, IN) you only live 45 miles from Indianapolis and 145 miles from Chicago. Is that correct? Girl, that's a GREAT location!!! I've visited both Indianapolis and Chicago and love both cities. Do you ever visit either???

Diana is right at least from my view. I was so happy to have her at my home. We talked so much about anything and everything and then this morning I thought of something else I wish we would have talked about....LOLOL Honestly don't know how we could have worked in another topic...lolol

I bet I know what building you stopped and took pictures of. We forgot to do that didn't we? Attachment 4310

This is Old Stoney, it use to be part of the Jr./Sr. High School when I was in Jr. high, but now it houses govt. offices. It's really beautiful. There also used to be another building for the school across the street and the way we went from class to class was under the street through a tunnel.

I was surprised too that neither one of us took more pictures. I took one video of Diana giving 3 of the dogs a treat and I'll post that later. Too much talking I guess...LOLOL It would have been great to have Val here documenting in pictures Diana's visit.

I've only been to Chicago when I was in the 6th grade and then again when Ricky was in the 6th grade. That is what 6th graders do in our county...have a Chicago trip where they go to the Museum of Science and Industry, Museum of Natural History and the Aquarium. I did go with my girlfriend just south of Chicago to the gambling boats once.

Now Indy is a different story. I know how to get to a few places and there is lots to do there...I only know how to get to the airport, zoo and Children's museum, oh and the state house.

We ought to have a meet-up and everyone fly into the Indianapolis airport. We would have a blast!!!

gja1000 10-20-2008 05:17 PM

Yes! An Indianapolis meetup would be the BERRIES!!! I've only been there a couple of times, both to conferences. Once we stayed right downtown at a hotel that attached to or was right beside a mall. It must have been in November because downtown was decked out in Christmas lights - it was so beautiful!!!

DianaB 10-20-2008 06:16 PM

I'm home!!! I got back in town about 7:30 this evening. Glen called and I picked him up at the church and we went out to eat so it took me a while to get home. It was a very long trip but well worth it!!

Janet, I can't imagine that we left any subject out in our talks!!!!!! It was a good thing that it was just you and me because someone else wouldn't have been able to get a word in edge-wise!!!! LOL

Yes, I stopped and took pictures of Stoney and the courthouse! After going around the square I lost my sense of direction and started out the wrong way!!! Oh well, it was just the first of many turn arounds that I had!!!! I didn't go to far on any of them before I realized that I had made a wrong turn though. I traveled just a couple of miles less than 1,400 miles in all!!! Oh, and Janet, I did stop at an antique shop just east of Kansas City. It was a nice break to be out of the Tahoe for awhile!!! My poor tailbone!!!!

Reuger was sooooo glad to see me when I got home!!! I wish that you could have seen him come running!!! So cute!!! Jaci said that he'd been really staying close to her this evening so she figured that he was really missing me! Actually, everyone missed me!! It's so nice to be missed!!!

Now........I have to figure out where do I go next?

Can't imagine you not going to Chicago more. Here in Texas, it's nothing to drive 150 miles or more to see something, a sporting event or to shop. We've actually driven 100 miles, each way, just to go out to eat at a certain restaurant. This is slowing down a little with the higher gas prices, but we, Texans, still love to travel. We are somewhat familiar with all the major cities within a 200 mile radius of our home.

So glad you had a wonderful time!!! A meetup in Indianapolis sounds like a great idea. Maybe sometime in the late winter or spring, after the holidays at least.

Diana, if you ever get to San Antonio again, let all of us know. Maybe we could have a mini-meetup there. There are several of us down here. Gayle isn't far from SA or perhaps we could meet in Austin. That's even closer for her, and Sandy isn't too far away. Her drive would be a little more than mine, but not much, once her foot heals. Maybe others could fly in and join us.

gja1000 10-21-2008 04:18 AM

It's true Marilyn! We do drive A LOT in Texas. I too have driven a 120 miles each way to eat out. I grew up in rural Oklahoma and we might have a basketball game, on a school night, at a town 60-70 miles away. It was not unusual. In Texas everything is so far apart, generally speaking that lots of driving is the norm!

Your meetup idea sounds GREAT!!!

DianaB 10-21-2008 08:42 AM

Going to Texas sounds like fun! Maybe next year we can plan something!!! My husband's nerves need to settle down after me driving so far this time. He really doesn't like for me to go so far alone!!!

Lindsey 10-21-2008 09:03 AM

Looks like you had a ton of fun! That's so awesome you guys got a weekend to hang out together!
