I'm with you Sandy. I'm not a girly girl either....tell her Diana..lol. I wear a pair of stud earrings all the time..usually same one for months on end, a watch, wedding ring and another ring. That's it. If we go to a wedding for funeral I do dress up a bit more, but just not into jewelry and makeup either. Very seldom do I need to wear makeup to drive the bus...lol and in the summer I would sweat it off anyway.

Janet, I hope it doesn't insult you, but, I think we're sisters!

gja1000 11-08-2008 10:49 AM

Sandy, I'm both kinds of girl. When I go to work, I look nice, I match, I wear coordinating jewelry, etc. But on the weekends I'm a jeans and boots (or tennies) kinda of girl. I don't wear makeup and I'm just comfortable.

Doesn't insult me if it doesn't scare you...lol. I would love to have you as a sister.:) I miss having a sister to share things with, but I'm so very blessed to have all of you.

Just have to look nice for my work, and for church on Sundays. Outside sales requires a bit of effort to look nice for my customers. If I didn't, I would not be being responsible to my employer. I wear makeup every day, unless I'm home sick. Just can't go out in public without it. One of the few times I did, I got caught on TV, would you believe. I was waving the reporter away, but they still broadcast the piece. I've mentioned it before, it was when I ran to the store on Thanksgiving morning to grab something we needed last minute.

When I say coordinated jewelry, that does not necessarily mean it matches, but it coordinates, same colors, same weight. My jewelry for the most part is inexpensive stuff from Dillards or craft shows stored in a plastic divided box you can buy at any craft store. (Kind of box you store screws and things in.)

I'm pretty basic though, same earth toned eye shadow, very seldom do I vary the shades. Same color eye liner pencil. Same lipstick. I have the routine down, could probably almost do it with eyes closed. Wash and blow dry hair every day.

Same daily skin care products. I get so sick of the routine, and still hate it that men get off so easy.

I'm a golden girl, although I used to prefer silver. My jewelry always matches. I am a girly girl. I always wear jeans, heels or wedges, a nice top and matching earrings, necklace and bracelets. I love costume jewelry in sets. I also love cubic zirconias and crystal. They are so much cheaper than diamonds and look just as good. I also have a few pieces in mixed gold and silver that I throw in.

Since I moved though, I really haven't worn my jewelry a lot. That's probably because it's still packed or not organized.

Judy I am with you. I to am a girly girl.. I dress professional for work and when I wear jeans its with heels.. I love silver jewerly, but I also love gold. I mix the two and like Janet I love diamonds lol... I love designer bags and have a shoe fetish..
I like pampering, getting pedicures and manicures, getting my hair dyed and have highlights. I wear makeup like Marilyn earth colors at all times unless I am home cleaning.. That about sums me up!

LOL!! I don't even wear heels when I dress up - EVER!!! My shoes have to be FLAT!

Marilyn 11-09-2008 07:13 PM

I do wear heals when I dress up. I have quite a few pair, but usually stick with either silver, gold or black. My gold and silver shoes aren't the shiny kind. They have a crinkle finish so they don't look gaudy. Most of my shoes have open toe and sling heal since it's usually warm here. I do have a really pretty pair of black patent pumps that I love, but can't stand too long in them or they do get a bit uncomfortable.

The height challenged tend to wear more heals. Though with jeans and slacks, I usually wear loafer style (prefer Italian leather) or Rebocks.

Do have quite a few sandles, both casual and dressy. Just have to have the right shoes for the outfit, or it just doesn't work.

Does anyone else love the Nygard clothing collection? I love their tops and skirts!!! I hate to go see what's out right now, because they are so hard to resist. ;)

Guess it was time to come clean. I'm not really a girly girl, but do like to wear makeup, be coordinated, and look nice. Now when I'm home, it's old T shirts and shorts or capris. In the winter, I have some old knit pants that I like to wear because they are so comfy. At home I need to wear things that can't get messed up when I clean or cook.

My nails are just naturally pretty tough and grow longer, but don't get manicures or pedicures very often.

I'm with you Gayle, if my feet hurt - I hurt all over! I can look just as dressy, sitting outside the ExxonMobil Vice President's office, with flats on as I can with high heels. Probably look even better because of that frown of pain I'd have on.

I'm not a shoe collector, and might re-buy the same shoe when I need a new pair. I wear black slacks and skirts, so I just keep up with not wearing the same top two days in a row. Then, I have a few blazers that I mix and match with my "suit".

I'm so simple, but not plain!

Janet 11-10-2008 02:21 PM

There is really no reason for me to dress up of course to drive the bus and I'm afraid my wardrobe has suffered because of it. I just don't like buying clothes or shoes. I buy when I need something. I do tend to pick up things at garage sales over in-store buying. When Diana was here, I bought 5 tops for $2.50. They are nice too. I guess I'm just simply not into clothes and shoes or jewelry really, I'd rather buy some gadget or purse or something for the house.

I don't usually wear makeup but when I go somewhere I like to dress up. I don't enjoy wearing makeup but I do look better with it than without. I like to wear jewelry and I really like pieces that coordinate. I've bought a few pieces from Premier jewelry that I really like. I buy a lot of my clothes from Cato's because I refuse to dress like a grandma. I might be one but I don't have to dress like one!!! Cato's has a lot of very up to date styles. I do buy some of my clothes at garage sales too but like I said, I don't want to dress like a grandma!!!

When I'm home it's just jeans and a nice shirt. Usually it's just clothes that are comfortable.

When I break a nail, I don't take time to file or clip it, just break it off or bite it off. I'm a jeans, boots, and baseball cap country kinda girl.

I look at women with all their matching clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories and I sometimes want to be like that. Is it fun matching everything like that?

I didn't used to find it fun Sandy, I had zero interest. Now that I take care of my self and ditched the XXL mens clothing, it is so much fun experimenting with your style! lol I was a late bloomer.
I keep it simple, usually just a great pair of earrings or a necklace and the engagement ring. Clothes and shoes are more my vice :o
