I just checked on Janet's town and the warnings are worse for her than they are for me!!!! Janet, I hope everything's alright!!!!

I'm looking at the radar right now in Kansas and it looks like there are bad storms all around you. I hope you are OK!!!

How are y'all doing? Did the bad weather that was predicted show up?

We're just getting a very small shower once in a while. Nothing to really help very much, but as Sandy said, every drop counts. We need it so badly. We're hearing that next month the drought may break.

Everybody check-in!

After work yesterday, I made the PetSmart run (about 16 miles away) and the sky was really bad looking, but we only got a sprinkle at my house (12 drops).

I'm here. We had some really bad storms last night. My SIL was called out as a storm spotter because there was a storm that could have produced a tornado, but it was south of us. He brought Kera and Daya over here because Amy wasn't home and I know that he would have called us first had there been a problem. Again, we had lightning everywhere!! We got .6 inches of rain but south of us I'm sure that they got much more! I think that the stormy weather is finally over and I'm so glad. The storms we had this week were awful!! We really keep an eye on the weather on the internet and last night our internet went out but by that time we knew that the storms were almost over. Thanks so much for your concern, Gayle!

Glad to hear you are okay. I think the threat of tornados in your area is scarier than the threat of hurricanes here on the coast. We get lots of advance notice. Tornodos can come on so quickly with no notice.

DianaB 08-21-2009 07:26 AM

We don't have tornados very often and when we do they're not the huge ones. We seem to be out of the area for the really big ones. We've had two tornados that I can remember. One went over several houses, including where my Grandma lived, but ended up killing one man who lived in the country. Another one touched down in the center of town and took the front off of a church. Wichita and west of there is where they get a lot more and bigger ones.

We had a real thunder shower late last night. It rained for quite a while. Our DirectTV even went out for a bit. It's been quite a while since we had anything like that. Everything looks all moist and dewy this morning. It's so nice to have moisture!!!! Hope we keep seeing more!!!!

We don't have a rain gauge, so I don't know how much it was, but more than any of the other showers we've had recently. :cheer:

I'm so glad to hear that you finally had a good shower. If your DirecTV went out then it rained pretty hard. I'm sure that you really enjoyed the shower. I hope that more is headed your direction.

We have had rain since yesterday, and lost electricity. It's back on now, but I don't know how to start up my hot water heater.

I'm going to ask my SIL.

Marilyn 08-23-2009 04:57 AM

Oh, Judy, so hope you get the hot water heater going soon!!! It's so frustrating then things like that go you and you don't know how to fix it!!! Cold showers are no fun!!
