Dae Lynn and Damon are in the process of getting goats and chickens. The goats will be for meat and milk.....they've been advised to NOT name any of the animals because it makes it harder to eat them!!!! We'll see how it goes!!! |
I can eat the chikens we raise but I don't think I could eat goats we had raised. I ate pigs we had raised too. We raised a little bull calf and then had him slaughtered but they SAID they swapped out the meat so we weren't eating Buford. LOL!

This is a cool thread!!! Sorry about the bunny, Gayle!!!
I raised chickens growing up, and of all those chickens, two were named. You should never name anything you plan to eat. It just doesn't work. My rooster, Roostie, did get butchered, but he was mixed in with a bunch of chickens that got butchered the same day, so if I ate him, I never knew when. My little hen, Witsie, lived for about 12 years. If she'd been alive when Rex and I married, she'd have been in a decorated cage at the back of the church building, but alas, she passed before the big day. |
That's a great story Marilyn! You are right, you should never name anything that might end up on the table!
|
That is a nice story :)
I would become a vegetarian but I'm addicted to meat :o |
Poor bunny :(
lol @this thread. I've been vegetarian 2 1/2 years, actually vegan for 1 of those 2 years and I'm not going back. Gayle for me all animals have all become; "the bunny's I couldn't swallow" LOL |
Hi Becky! It's always good to see you on here!
