Royal Wedding

Is anyone else waking up early to watch? I will be up at 4:00 am this Friday :D I love anything royal, so there's no question lol!

Does anyone else even care? I read all the news stories and then see hundreds of comments from people who are so sick of the royal family blah blah blah so maybe I'm in the minority here

Blueyes 04-25-2011 01:13 PM

I think it's interesting. I won't make any special arrangements to watch it, but if I see it on I won't turn it off, lol! I hope they have a wonderful life together.

Lindsey 04-25-2011 01:21 PM

Lol, I will watch as much as I can before I have to go to work :) The two of them are doing their first official trip as a royal couple to Canada this summer. They won't be coming to my province though. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were here in my city 2005, but I was working and couldn't go see them!

lynne b 04-25-2011 01:35 PM

I would love to be able to watch it but will be at work. I remember Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding, I think it's every little girls fantasy to have a wedding like that. Beautiful!!

Janet 04-25-2011 02:56 PM

I won't be waking up to watch it. I find it all fascinating, but I'll need my sleep to drive the munchkins to school.

DianaB 04-26-2011 09:58 AM

I won't be getting up early to watch it but I'll probably watch the later reruns!! I've been watching some movies and stuff about the couple and wedding. They seem like a good couple together and I wish them the best. It has to be so hard to live under so much public scrutiny.

Lindsey 04-26-2011 10:16 AM

I agree it must be so hard! Although it is really nice that he is able to marry who he chooses to marry... if Charles was able to do that, he probably would have ended up with Camilla at the start, instead of being forced to marry Diana, and she probably wouldn't have had such a tragic death... although maybe she wouldn't have had the ability to do so much charity work either.

Did you know that Kate will be the first commoner queen-to-be in over 350 years? She has no royal background at all, no ties to the royal family.

paula1961 04-26-2011 10:56 AM

I won't be getting up to early to watch it either but I will definitely watch throughout the day. It is very interesting! I also remember Charles and Diana's wedding. And I agree with you Lynsey...Charles would have no doubt been with Camilla if he had had a choice.

gja1000 04-26-2011 11:37 AM

I think I might get up to watch. What time is the actual ceremony? I too, remember Diana and Charles' wedding. It was a fairy tale!

gja1000 04-26-2011 11:44 AM

OK, is 10:20AM in London, 4:20AM here? I'm just trying to figure out if I really have to get up at 4:00 or if I can wait till 5;00.

Lindsey 04-26-2011 11:54 AM

I am on Central Standard Time and we are 7 hours behind London... so 4:00 here will be 11:00 there, when the marriage service begins.

gja1000 04-26-2011 02:37 PM

Allrighty! I guess I'm up at 4:00 then :D

You and me both :D So when they all appear on the balcony at 1:30, that should be 6:30... just enough time for me to shower, get ready for work and leave the house at 7:15!

DianaB 04-26-2011 02:58 PM

Gayle, Lindsey is on "standard time" and we are on "daylight savings time" so you should have an hour difference somewhere. My poor brain can't figure it out so I'll leave that to you!!!

gja1000 04-26-2011 04:25 PM

Oh, you are right Diana! It is spring forward, so it should be 5:00AM! (I think )

Janet 04-26-2011 04:37 PM

I'll have the TV on before I go on the route, hope I get to see some of it. It's going to be on TV
later tomorrow evening.

Lindsey 04-26-2011 06:21 PM

Lol this is the current time in London, so you can figure it out from there :D

gja1000 04-26-2011 07:16 PM

OK, thanks Lindsay! 5:00AM here is 11:00AM there, so I should be fine to get up at 5:00.

judy 04-27-2011 07:28 AM

I just want to see her dress.

I'm not fond of the royal family. I don't like the way Diana was treated by the Queen, and I remember when the younger brother wore a Nazi uniform to a Halloween party in 2004 or 5. I also think Charles' cheating on Diana for all those years with Camille was a disgrace! I don't think there are excuses for cheating.

Growing up, I loved Queen Elizabeth, and the royals. Then, the Diana debacle happened. I really loved her! I'm sure there are plenty of stories about her too, but she charmed the world. Of course, we got the Americanized version, which tends to be negative and gossipy.

Sorry to be so judgmental, but they did a couple of things that really push my buttons.

LOL! ME TOO, JUDY! I just want to see her dress! And of course, I can see it a million times after the wedding, but I want to see it when it happens.

judy 04-27-2011 07:47 PM

Now I feel like a b**** for my tirade about the royals. I really apologize for being so judgmental. I only know what I learned from the American media, who are known for their yellow journalism. Sorry:(:(:(!!!

Enjoy watching the wedding, and I will love seeing her dress. I do hope they have a lovely wedding and a very happy marriage.

Janet 04-28-2011 02:45 AM

I loved Princess Diana too. I think she was the most beautiful woman I had or have ever seen.

paula1961 04-28-2011 06:19 AM

I loved Princess Diana too! I cried when she died. Such a tragedy! She was a wonderful Mother and a true example of someone who really cared about others! And yes...she was such a beautiful woman!! She was and still is one of my heroes!:)

judy 04-28-2011 07:23 AM

My heart always tugs when I see her picture.

gja1000 04-28-2011 08:43 PM

Only about 5 hours now. Why aren't I in bed already? :o

Lindsey 04-29-2011 01:58 AM

I fell asleep late too! Are you up watching Gayle??

gja1000 04-29-2011 02:32 AM

Yes, I got up about 30 mins before the wedding. It has been spectacular. LOVE her dress!

Lindsey 04-29-2011 02:33 AM

Me too! When she first stood beside William, and they were smiling and talking, he leaned over and said "You look beautiful" :) I really hope this lasts forever. They seem so normal!

gja1000 04-29-2011 02:34 AM

My Yorkie boys are mad that I am up and not feeding them. They are doing all sorts of dances on the couch telling me they are hungry and I am ignoring them. LOL

Lindsey 04-29-2011 02:35 AM

Aww! Layla is still snoring upstairs with Scott  She's not a morning dog!

I KNOW! I saw that. That pic will be all over everywhere! So sweet!

gja1000 04-29-2011 02:36 AM

The queen looks like she is sleeping!

I was just going to say the same thing! LOL!

Lindsey 04-29-2011 02:38 AM

I don't like what Princesses Beatirce and Eugenie are wearing (right behind the Queen and Duke) :( They looks like outfits for 70 year old women.

gja1000 04-29-2011 02:39 AM

They definitely do not look stylish. I hadn't seen them in years.

gja1000 04-29-2011 02:40 AM

I love the choir boys' ruffled collars

Lindsey 04-29-2011 02:41 AM

Me too! I kind of giggle when their mouths make o's! It reminds me of cartoons lol

gja1000 04-29-2011 02:42 AM

Kate reminds me of princess Grace. So beautiful, so very elegant.

Lindsey 04-29-2011 02:44 AM

I agree!

I wish her mom looked happier to be there! I haven't seen her smile yet. But maybe it's just nerves!
