Do you remember that scholarship and job I applied for?

WELL...

I found out today that they chose me!!! I can't even begin to put into words how excited I am! :D I've wanted this scholarship since I first heard about it during my freshman year (so nearly two years ago). It was killing me to have to wait until this semester to apply and I was so disappointed when they said there wouldn't be any slots. But they managed to get two for this year and I was their #1 choice!!

It's such a big honor for me because so many people applied. (I'm just sad that only one other person can get it because I know a lot of the other applicants.)

So now I get tuition completely paid for, which means I get all of my grants and other scholarship money as a check rather than it going for tuition...and on top of that I get $2500 each semester for living expenses. This turns out to be a HUGE amount of money (about $8000 in cash each semester and no tuition to pay).

AND I have a guaranteed job when I graduate that pays pretty well. (It's 35k for an undergrad, but I will have my grad degree so I'm not sure what my starting pay will be.) That's pretty good for this area and for my field (social workers don't make much, lol). Anyway, I just wanted to share my exciting news with you guys! :)

So true Tink. She stresses over every paper, every project, every grade. She will actually cry her eyes out if she doesn't get on a+ on something.

Thanks so much Tink!

And Traci, I don't mind if I get an A or an A+. There's no difference at all in your GPA so it doesn't bother me. It's the A- that would really upset me because I don't want to lose my 4.0. I guess I'm a bit of an overachiever. My hubby just laughs at me when I start stressing about grades... (well, unless I'm REALLY upset about it then he's wonderful). But yeah, I should probably not worry about it so much, but that's how I've been since I was in elementary school...

Oh I know you've been that way since you started school. Before your hubby was around I was one of the people who seen you stress to make sure each paper you turned in was perfect. :)

I think I've loosened up at least a little in college. So many college classes are actually easier than the AP and honors high school classes I was in. (It's weird.) So I don't try as hard since things aren't graded as harshly. If only Brendon would've seen how much I stressed about everyinthing in high school he'd really get a good laugh, wouldn't he? lol

I actually think he would have driven himself crazy trying to figure out how to get you to stop stressing so much. I didn't know you had loosened up some. I'm glad you have. Having good grades is great but I remember times you made yourself physically sick worrying about it.

I try not to let it get that bad anymore...it's a struggle...

Its hard to kick the habit of perfectionism, but try, when you know you did it good, then relax, and know it will be ok.

My son is a lot like that, he is always affraid he forgot to put something in hes schoolbag, he will check it 2 to 3 times over, before he leaves.

There should be a 12 step program for perfectionism...

My husband thinks my stress level is going to cause me to have major health problems in the future, but this is just how I have always been. I keep telling him that in two weeks I'll get my grades and then I won't be stressed anymore. (But then again, I always find *something* to worry about.) At least I am better about it than I used to be...
