yeast infection. seems like it happens to dam often.. dont know how it happens and why to me so often,, im gonna kill someone....i already took diflucan pill on
monday..its a one time pill that usuall works, i think it working, but want something to help it get better sooner.... im dieing here.... i know it will happen again in another month or so... just trying to get ahead of myself.. any suggestions???

I use to get those quite a bit, but I haven't had one in years. I always used the over the counter cremes and they worked real well. And this will be a little more personal, but I always make sure I don't reach too far back when I wiped (I read that can cause flare ups). Also a good douche helps. I've used the over the counter and they've worked good also. Another thing, is be sure your toilet paper does not have all that paper dust. I'm just really conscious of these things now, and I think I haven't had any more problems because of this.

ginab 09-13-2006 08:58 AM

im very cystic and loaded with fibroids, maybe they cause something.. could be my diet too.. i eat s*** all the time... im gonna now eat yogurt everysingle day...
this has got to be the worst feeling...im too sensitive over there...it sucks

Try to stay away from too much bread because I heard that can contribute. I also heard that douches are bad for you (my gyno told me that) and I have also heard that women prone to these infections should not wear thongs too much because that can cause infections. My best friend was constantly getting these but she had an IUD and had to have it removed because her doc said that was what was causing all of those infections.

I've heard the bread thing too, but don't really know if it's true. Douches are fine according to my gyno as long as it's not more than once or twice a month and nothing with fragrances or add ins. All I know is what has been working for me and I use to get them quite often. It's probably been 15 years or more. Also to wear cotton underwear is suppose to be helpful.

Great information...read quite a bit, but will have to finish later. About time to get that big yellow bus back to school.

Thanks for the info...:)

ginab 09-13-2006 10:16 AM

i do not wear thongs, no tight pants etc... i took a bath the other day and had no
bubble bath and starting putting all this crap in there to make bubbles, ,like
bath gel and other bath gel with lots of perfume in it... bad thing to do huh?

ice queen 09-13-2006 10:22 AM

my gyno told me that to help with the itching and burning while waiting for the diflucan to work to stick a tampon in PLAIN yogurt and use it like when you have your period...the (?) acidolpholus (sp?) in the yogurt is supposed to fight with the yeast infection. i am allergic to monistat and over the counter meds so diflucan is the only way to go for me...i've had to take multiple doses too....girl sometimes it itched so bad i felt like sticking a damn scrubby brush up there just to make the itch go away:rolleyes: :p :D good luck!!!

ginab 09-13-2006 10:27 AM

ginab 09-13-2006 10:36 AM

I've heard this also. I used to get them alot (and when I say ALOT, I mean like once a month), and then I got UTI and I finally found out the cause of BOTH my yeast infections and my UTI....I was wiping the wrong way....I was wiping back to front. This is SOOOOOO bad! If you are wiping this way instead of front to back, change right away. It will take some getting used to, but since I changed, I have not had an infection or a UTI since and it's been about 5 years now.

ginab 09-13-2006 10:50 AM

omg i wipe the right way ...omg of course i do... you guys are to funny...

Kimberley 09-13-2006 03:49 PM

Home remedies??? Nope, I call the doct and get that fancy shmancy little pill and it works wonders.

Shannon 09-13-2006 04:16 PM

Don't want to offend anyone, but I had a girlfriend that was prone to yeast infections, turns out her boyfriend was passing it to her. See he had an overgrowth of yeast in his body, especially in his mouth. I think that is called thrush. Anyway, you can imagine how he was passing it back to her. She had to refrain from that particular activity. Poor Girl!!!:( :( :(

I forgot... Douching is not good. It washes out all of the good bacteria. Also makes you prone to all sorts of infections.

Janet 09-13-2006 04:19 PM

My oh My oh My.....:D

Gina 09-15-2006 06:29 AM

Gina I agree with the other girls, the gyno always said to eat yogurt and I hear that to much douching is not good either . It can give you a yeast infection it kills good germs to...

That would do it! You need to stop taking baths all together. ANY soap in bath while washing will come in contact with the "toot" and can cause it. If you are as sensitive as I am taking showers will make a world of difference. I don't even let my 9 year old take a bath that often. Once in a blue moon. We are SOOOO much alilke that I worry all the bubble bath and so on will cause her to get an infection.
Good luck.

I've heard of people using plain yogurt and garlic cloves... I've never had one myself so I don't know what works. You can find a lot of information on this site. I used to get UTI's ALL the time, and I read on that site to drink cranberry juice, or take cranberry pills. I haven't had one UTI since I started taking cranberry pills! So I trust their information.

acidophilus is an all natural pill you can take that works like diflucan , but without the risk of liver damage. it can be found in every vitamin aisle even walmart. it's cheap and effective.

rivermom 10-21-2006 08:31 AM

Great advise was given on this thread!!

Janet 10-22-2006 07:38 AM

I always take a bubble bath, but I just put a capful in. I don't overdo it. I haven't had a yeast infection in a long, long time. But IF and WHEN it ever happens again, I have this site to refer to. :)

highlans 12-06-2006 07:50 AM

Had this problem for years untill I visited a young army dr who gave both myself and hubby antibiotics to take never had the problem since.
He said often you just keep passing backward and forward although hubby never seemed to have anyitching problem. It worked:thumbup:

Is there diabetes in your family? That too can cause frequent infections.

I have rarely had a yeast infection, but it was the first sign each and every time I was pregnant. Any chance you are?
