Rain & Ice!!
2 Attachment(s)
We have been haveing rain & ice since last night (I hate winter) but thought this was kind of pretty. When I look out my patio door this is what I see, we have lattic covering the top of our patio and the rain has frozen dripping from in between the holes. It might be kind of hard to see but it sure is pretty
|
I dont like the cold at all, and dont do well outdoors for long, but the winter can be so so pretty. Thanks for sharing, those pics are lovely.
|
How are you Lynne? It's so nice to see you back on. Those are such interesting shots!
|
That is so interesting to see all those lattice holes w/ icicles on them. Very pretty.
Years ago NW Arkansas and surrounding areas had a major ice storm. It's was like living in a glass world. The beauty of it all was incredible but to be out in it and get around was miserable to say the least. We have ice warnings today but so far it's just been wet and cold. I wonder what it will do tonight when the temps drop? Stay safe those of you now dealing with this stuff!!! |
Pretty much sucks here...lol Lynne is about 25 minutes north of me. It's still raining and still some freezing, mostly now on metal things and the trees. I've seen cars go by faster than I think they should so maybe the roads are not too awful bad. Would love to go shopping, but really think I need to keep myself right here...lol
I didn't take any pictures yet Lynne...it will probably all be melted by the time I decide to. I haven't even got dressed yet and it's 2:00 P.M. Ha Ha |
Our trees are starting to snap. It is so wierd to see and hear thunder and lighting with these storms.

I watched the news this am with a segment on OK. Lots of ice going on there. We did freeze last night w/ frozen roads. My hubby will be doing my driving work for me this morning so I'm thankful of that. He knows I stink at driving on bad road conditions, LOL. |
Ice is treacherous for driving. Keep safe all of you!
|
We didn't get it as bad as out west. WOW!! The paved roads are in pretty decent shape, but the gravel roads are horrible.
I saw the news also Michelle, I hope you still have electricity, it looks really bad. Let us know how you're doing. |
Janet....did you have to drive bus today. They cancelled school up here. It was pretty nasty this morning, but it wasn't too bad at lunch. Walking is worse then driving.

We're in a warning for this afternoon and all day tomorrow. We have ice on the roads and they're pretty slippery. I'm planning on just staying home and getting some things ordered on the internet. The kids didn't have to go to school today and I wonder if they'll be out tomorrow too. I sure hope that our electricity doesn't go off. I have that! |

Yes I drove this morning. It wasn't bad at all on the paved roads, but the gravel roads were horrible. My son wanted to drive and he really needed to, but hubby called and said the roads were really slick.....he has a tendency to exaggerate some. I think my son would have been okay driving. It was foggy here a little bit, how about up there? |
Guess it was kind of dumb of me to ask if she still had electricity...duh....if she doesn't she can't answer me. What a goofball...only took me two hours to figure it out...LOL

You will really "hate that" when you don't "have that". = Referring to electricity. LOL!! |
Oh man... ice is the worst!
We have snow and very cold temps... got down to -12 a couple nights... but I'd take this over ice anytime! The pictures are neat Lynne, but I wouldn't want to walk out there under that ice. If they start falling it could hurt! I bet it's slick under them as well. Be careful ladies! |

Diana - my hubby did my travel work this am for me as it was iced over. Nothing bad now in my county as it's above freezing. It's just a soggy muddy mess and cold but no complaints as I realize it could be so much worse.
I heard your area in KS, OK, IN, and MO many places have been hit real hard. Thank you for asking, I appreciate the thoughts. ;) |
We haven't been hit too hard yet but I'm afraid of what might be coming. We're suppose to have freezing rain tonight and tomorrow. I keep reading that Oklahoma is in bad shape. The Tulsa hospitals are on emergency power and people who are involved in accidents who are not injured are not suppose to even call them in. It sounds like they're very overwhelmed. I have an aunt in Ft. Gibson and I wonder how she's doing. They had a really bad ice storm last year and were without electricity for 2-3 weeks. Sure wish that I had a generator!!!!
|
Most of Norman is with out power. We have power at home but not at the office. Usually our weather people are wrong but this one was right on.
Most of the trees in the yard are on the ground. In fact I don't see any still up any where. Here is a link the some of the pictures I really hope my insurance covers the trees. At work we have a large project where we only have a small window of time to work on. We are converting Life Church from SD to HD. They broadcast to 15 different cities. We have to complete the job by Friday. So of course the bad weather would come now. My Dh works for OGE electric. So, he is not really happy about this at all. |

As awful as it is out there, those pictures are magnificent! You got talent girl.
No trees, but talent. Keep safe all of you. I'm sorry your weather is hitting you so hard. We had some rain drops here in Brooklyn. I am going up to my daughter's tomorrow. She's way north, and the schools were closed today, but only the smaller roads are icy at this point. Stay safe, keep warm, stay home! |
Michelle,
those pictures are just amazing. For something so beautiful yet be so destructive just blows my mind. I am sorry about your landscaping. Please be safe and keep warm. |
Those pictures were beautiful Michelle. I know it must be hard to see everything that way. Back in Feb. of 1991 we had a bad ice storm and were without power for 2 weeks. Well most of the county was, hubby couldn't take it and finally found a generator..lol My son was only 2 months old at the time. We cooked on a camping stove, heated with our fireplace insert and got along just fine.
I had been use to camping since my younger brother and I were small enough to sleep on the same cot. Hubby on the other hand was about to go crazy. Stay safe Michelle. |

Janet, you are just too funny!!!! :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: Beautiful pictures!!! Y'all Notherners take care out there & stay safe!!! |
What a mess!
My prayers are with you all to stay safe. So far it's all staying south of me. It's been too cold here to rain. So we're on the upper edge of the storm but getting snow rather than ice. Just an hr or 2 south of us they are getting rain and ice and dh is out driving, so is NOT a happy camper. I guess he's going to be waiting it out in a truck stop rather than getting his miles and making his delivery times. Thank God he's smart enough to just pull over and do that. |
Michelle, I had not seen your pictures when I made the earlier post. Sure hope when things thaw out, some of your trees will be salvagable. It's amazing sometimes how trees can heal when we think they are a loss. We see it from hurricanes. Trees are broken and bent, but a year later, you would never know.
Wishing all you in the ice and snow warmth, safety, and electricity very soon!!! |
Wow Michelle, I'd missed your photos too. How nasty!
Ice is beautiful to look at, but so dangerous to deal with. |

Okay, I'm tired of winter now..make it go away. It's been rainy and foggy all day long, we're suppose to get some snow this weekend..AND I NEED TO FINISH SHOPPING!!!!!
Sorry that was just a minor attack there. I'm better now. I really do need to get some shopping done before everything is completely picked over. |
You gals are too kind. It looks like we will be able to save some of the trees. After driving through some of the other neighborhoods, I feel lucky. Wow, there really is some damage out there.
Now it looks like we will get 3-6 inchs of snow this weekend. It looks like my DH will be working hard at least until Christmas. I really feel for those that still don't have power. |
The photos are very pretty, thanks for sharing..
I hope you all stay safe my prayers are with you. It is begining to get a little cold. We are expecting some snow maybe two inches the tops mixed with rain. |

I hope the weather clears for you to head out shopping. I know you've been trying to get this done for a couple weekends now. |
Thanks Sheryl. I suppose I could go shopping during the day, but I have to go to another city about 30 minutes (maybe a little more) to shop and I'm so afraid something will happen and I won't get back in time to do the afternoon route. So, I try to do shopping on weekends, but they are not cooperating...lol
Today it is really foggy with a heavy mist, so I'm not gonna try going today. Tomorrow is suppose to be nice, so I'm thinking I might try going then...Saturday is suppose to be crappy weatherwise, but who really knows till it gets here. Outside of feeling a little rushed, I'm anxious to buy some presents. |
I know how you feel. I haven't been out of town to shop yet so a couple of days ago I started ordering on-line. Several places are offering free shipping and I have coupons!!! I think that next week Glen and I are going to Wichita and stay a couple of days to work on our list!!
|
Diana, what the heck would we do without our coupons? I have a couple of coupons from Kohl's that I need to use. I just may do that here in a bit, the boys both need jeans.
The weatherman at noon said we have a winter storm watch in effect for Saturday morning starting around 7-8 A.M. Didn't say exactly how much, but did say we would need our shovels. I'm gonna take my shovel and knock him in the head if he won't quit forecasting snow!!! |
I did most of my shopping online.
Thank God I'm done other than putting cash in cards for my 2 youngest. Since they're moving out on their own, I figure I'll give them money so they can buy what they need to set up housekeeping for themselves. |
Quote:
We're in a winter storm watch too through Saturday. Looks like we're going to get anywhere from 3 to 7 inches. If I know Jaci she'll be hoping for 10!!!! I just wish that I didn't have so many other things that NEED to get done this weekend!!! |
Quote:
They finally are saying this morning how much they are guesstimating we'll get here..same time frame, but 3-6 inches. BUT, we are suppose to get ice and sleet sometime on Sunday. I think I may want to move to Arizona or Texas...they usually don't get much snow and cold. Of course I would probably complain about the summer heat then...LOL Isn't there someplace that just stays in the high 60's to high 70's all year? |
