Fertility Moment

Well - the fertility drugs have officially made me insane. But at least I realize it and can find some humor in it.

I cleaned out the cat's litterbox, and Crash ran right in after it was done (he loves to scratch in the new litter).

I absolutely lost my mind. I started ranting and crying that he doesn't appreciate a thing that I do for him - that he can't even leave the litter box clean for 5 minutes. I called him selfish and a total jerk and that it was obvious he was a male cat because a female would not be that insensitive.

So now, the cat is hiding and Jim suddenly "remembered" he had to do something for his mother and went to her house - the dogs couldn't get out of here fast enough either.

judy 04-20-2008 07:00 AM

Poor Dobie! Your hormones have obviously gotten the best of you.
Maybe you should plan on being alone for the day and just share your insanity with us.

We love you, and you won't scare us off!!

I happen to agree with you about the cats though. They could have waited until you at least walked out of the room!

Tink 04-20-2008 07:48 AM

{{{Dobie}}} Don't be too hard on yourself. You're definitely "under the influence" and can't be faulted for that. Hormones are powerful things... wonderful and evil at the same time. I pray they help you achieve your dream.

Chandra Amaya 04-20-2008 11:32 AM

oh how exciting Dobie! I wish you all of the best luck has to offer and if you need to scream or cry we are always here. *points to the vent forum* See we even have an "I want to scream and cry" forum!

:sidesplit: I just had a visual of this Dobie, I'm glad you shared it!;)
"I called him selfish and a total jerk and that it was obvious he was a male cat because a female would not be that insensitive."At first I didn't see the word 'cat', and I thought you were talking about 'Jim'
Hang in there and know that we're here for you!! :ghug:

Dobie 04-20-2008 01:39 PM

Thanks everyone - I took a book and a blanket down to the beach and spent the day reading. The flow of the waves helped to soothe me and I'm feeling a lot better!

Forgivenmom5 04-20-2008 01:45 PM

Glad you are feeling better.

Janet 04-20-2008 01:49 PM

Oh Dobie, you poor woman. I know exactly how you're feeling and it's not good! Those fertility drugs can really make you wacko and what it too, they make you want to eat which in turn makes you fat! I know from experience, that's where my weight gain came from.

I found too if I could read to escape, I did better. Roller coaster rides are nothing compared to riding the hormone ride...LOL.

I am glad to read you're feeling a bit better.

Dobie 04-20-2008 04:40 PM

Janet - I'm so happy you said that - all I want to do is eat, I didn't realize other people also experienced that.

Marilyn 04-20-2008 04:58 PM

Dobie, so sorry you are having to experience this. I didn't have the weight gain issue, but the mood swings were really bad.

One good thing though, when you are pregnant, Jim will have to change the litter. You can't risk handling it. Then you get to listen to him vent!!! :p

pope1982 04-20-2008 07:46 PM

Awwww, I love ya baby doll! Hang in there :2smileys:
Thank you for sharing this private moment with us. Though it is horrible to imagine cause I've had my share of over the top chick related freak outs... it did make me smile because I can so picture that being my house!

Never forget, you've got some great support backing you up ;)

Yes sweetie, just be careful or you'll end up like I did. Now I'm 53 and it's very hard to get the weight off. I had cravings all the time and would eat till I was so miserable. Just keep an eye on it. I honestly don't remember changing to larger sizes...boy was I blind!

I wish you didn't have to go through this. It is such an emotional ride that you wonder if it will ever end. If I could make it better for you, I would.

Dobie 04-21-2008 07:00 AM

Hopefully I'm only going to have a couple of more days of the drugs - this morning's ultrasound showed several mature follicles. I think the egg retrieval is going to be either Wed. or Thursday. I have to admit that I am terrified - I'm no nervous that it will end up like last time and we won't get any embryos.

Emmsmom 04-21-2008 07:50 AM

Aww. Think positive thoughts! Hormones can mess with you thats for sure. I hope all goes well for you at the docs!! HUGS

Forgivenmom5 04-21-2008 01:25 PM

Good luck. Hope everything goes well this time.

You're in my prayers Dobie:hands:

Dobie 04-21-2008 01:59 PM

Thanks Kat - I just got off the phone with the nurse. The egg retrieval is this Wed at 9:30am. Then, if we get any viable embryos - that procedure will be Friday morning. I go from being nervous to just crying - I'm so worried that it will end up like last time.

katcarasella 04-21-2008 02:10 PM

Fill your mind with light, happiness, hope, feelings of security and strength, and soon your life will reflect these qualities.
I found this quote for you!! Think Positive!!!

Tink 04-21-2008 02:14 PM

Good luck Dobie, my prayers are with you

DianaB 04-21-2008 05:50 PM

Like the others said, you can vent here all you like. Hormones can be so hard on us even when we're not pumped up on them like you are right now. We certainly can sympathize with what you're going through. We're praying that all goes well for you and that your dreams come true! (We'll even let you use ALL capital letters if you want to!!!)

AngieDoogles 04-21-2008 07:28 PM

Hormones have done crazy things to me as well. I could NOT take a shower without crying for nearly a month when I first started a BC pill 6 months ago. I don't know why the shower was so bad, but I guess it just gave me too much time to think. It was also right after I found out that I might not be able to have children so that had a lot to do with it too I think. My poor hubby had to put up with a crazy emotional wreck for 4 or 5 months until my body adjusted. I think I'm handling it a lot better now though. I don't know how the hormones you are on are, but hopefully you're body will adjust soon as well. Good luck! *hugs*

goofywife 04-22-2008 04:37 AM

I hope it works this time. I am sending my prayers up for you.

judy 04-22-2008 02:45 PM

Oh Dobie,

I'm sending prayers for you and a big hug!

Love ya,

Taurus Babe 04-22-2008 07:26 PM

I feel bad finding humor in your side effects! Poor you!

Don't feel bad - it's the humor and understanding from other women that is getting me through this!

I found this quote for you!! Think Positive!!!

Dobie, I know it is hard, but Kat is right. You need to relax and have faith. Being stressed can affect the outcome. When we were having so much trouble with infertility, our doctor actually suggested that we needed to consider adoption because once you adopt you relax and pregnancy often occurs. We did not resort to adoption, but you see this so many times. Please try your best to find peace and hope, relax and feel strong.

DianaB 04-23-2008 11:37 AM

Dobie, how are you today and how did things go?

Tink 04-23-2008 12:03 PM

Watching for an update Dobie. Here's hoping you get GOOD results.
My prayers and best wishes are with you!

Things went really well today - although I'm still a little groggy. The doctor said the "ideal" retrieval would be 6 eggs and we got 11!!!! I didn't think I heard her right at first. Please continue to pray that the eggs fertilize and we get embryos - if all goes well - the inplantation will be Friday.

Tink 04-23-2008 12:18 PM

Dobie, I'm so thrilled for you!
I have every faith that Friday will be just as encouraging and you'll soon be showing us photos of your darling twins or triplets. :D

Tink 04-24-2008 08:50 PM

Dobie, my prayers are with you tonight. I hope tomorrow brings the answer to your dreams.
HUGS

Janet 04-25-2008 02:20 AM

I'm not sure what is going on here, but I know I replied to this thread. I wanted Dobie to know she was in my prayers and it was wonderful for them to be able to retrieve 11 eggs. I came to see if there were any updates and my post wasn't here. This isn't the first time I've noticed this. Not sure what is happeneing.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread Dobie, but I am praying that at least one of these eggs produces the most beautiful baby for you to hold in your arms. I'll keep you in my nightly prayers.

Dobie 04-26-2008 04:56 AM

We had 2 embyros transferred - they were both grade A, so I'm hopeful that at least one of them will inplant. Won't know for 2 weeks. I wanted to thank all of you for the support you have been giving me during this stressful time.

Janet 04-26-2008 05:34 AM

Keeping fingers crossed and prayers said Dobie that you'll have great news to tell us!!

Tink 04-26-2008 06:54 AM
