I bid on a condo!

I just got home, and I'm just so excited. I picked out the townhouse - no contest!
I put a bid in, and now we'll see what happens.

Janet 05-28-2008 06:23 PM

Is it the one you posted pictures of Judy? Which ever one it is....I know you love it or you wouldn't bid on it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you girlfriend.

Forgivenmom5 05-28-2008 06:44 PM

I hope your deal goes through with no problems Judy. I am really glad you found something you can be happy with.

Lindsey 05-28-2008 06:56 PM

That's so exciting! I hope it works out!

DianaB 05-28-2008 06:56 PM

You made a decision on the condo!!! I can't wait to hear if you got it or not!!!

Tink 05-28-2008 06:57 PM

Wooooohoooooo Judy! I hope you get it and love it!

judy 05-29-2008 05:33 PM

Okay - they counter bid, I'm offering a lower amount, and I suppose we'll end up splitting the difference.

My daughter says I should stick to my lower bid for a few days and see what happens. I might.

Marilyn 05-29-2008 07:52 PM

Oh, Judy, I so hope this works out for you!!!! You are such an awesome lady and deserve to be happy!!!

Tink 05-29-2008 08:27 PM

Judy, if the price is fair and the place is absolutely the one you want, don't play around too long so you miss out. That would stink.

My fingers are crossed for you!

HALEY 05-30-2008 05:51 AM

Did you hear anything Judy?? crossing my fingers for you :goodluck::crossfingers::crossfingers:

teri88 05-30-2008 06:27 AM

Oh I hope it all happens for you!

Gina 05-30-2008 10:05 AM

Good luck to you , It will happen you will see.. :)

donna1990 05-30-2008 11:42 AM

They counter offered and so did I. My broker told me their bottom line is
$3000 more than my offer. I told him to stick to my offer until tomorrow.

Part of the deal includes most of the furniture, which I don't want. My daughter talked me into keeping it, and getting rid of whatever I don't want. She has a huge house, so I'll probably end up giving most of it to her.

I called my broker back to tell them that they can take whatever they want, and not worry about the rest. I'll take care of it. I figured that might push them over a bit to take my offer.

Here are some pictures of the view from the entrance to the community.

Wow Judy!
I am so excited for you! I am sure you will get this condo... and have many many happy years enjoying your home.

I remember how I felt when buying my home. The first elation in knowing I had found my home, the high emotions when dealing with seller, the contentment I found when I walked into my home for the first time when it was truly mine..

The total satisfaction in knowing that it was mine and I had a clean slate to paint.

Get ready!
The rollar coaster ride is just beginning!!

Janet 05-31-2008 05:35 PM

Judy, I sure hope you get it the way you want it! You go girl!!

judy 05-31-2008 06:02 PM

I got it!!! I'm so happy - I bought a house! I just can't believe it. She came down to my price last night, and now I have to start packing, find a mover, etc., etc. The closing is scheduled for July 25th.

I am one happy person today!

Yesterday, I got on the phone and found a real estate lawyer, someone to do the survey, and a moving company. I think my daughter's neighbor, a contractor, will do the floors and paint job.

I started packing. They say to do one room at a time, and so on. I think whatever I decide I'm really not taking, I'll just leave here. I can give my super $50 and he can throw it out. I'm so glad I already went through everything and got rid of so much stuff that I don't want!

I have to figure out when to have the floors done. They can paint after my furniture is in. I told the previous owner that I would keep her stuff, and take care of it for her. That's how these places are sold. Thankfully, she's taking some stuff. Maybe my daughter will want some furniture. I really don't, but that may have pushed the previous owner to settle for my price. I know it's a waste of rime trying to plan for everything to go perfectly and smoothly. It usually just goes the way it goes anyway.

I found out which cable companies service the area, where to get my hair done, where I can get groceries in a pinch. I have to travel to the supermarket.
There are several cleaning services in the area, but no nail salons. I already know the vet.

I have to see if there's a pet supply store nearby. If not - ????

Lindsey 06-05-2008 07:57 AM

That's so great Judy! It's so exciting! I love moving to new places :) Well, not the actual MOVING part, but exploring new communities is pretty fun!

Good luck with the move and with finding all the important places in your new neighborhood. I can't wait to see pics! :)

Yipeeeeee good luck Judy !! Your going to be very happy and I am glad that you are living closer to your daughter. Hey now I have to make plans with you to meet in Bklyn before you leave.... Maybe I will come in one day and we can do lunch. I will let you know...

judy 06-05-2008 03:59 PM

Found a pet food store, a dog groomer and a nail salon.

I packed up a fair amount of stuff today from my office/den/computer room. I started on the videos and my Rosenthal china, which I'm giving to Jessie.

I need more boxes now. I'm starting to enjoy packing. It has a positive energy and a nice flow to it.

Marilyn 06-05-2008 05:22 PM

Judy, you were talking about laminate floor and I told you that Hubby doesn't think very highly of Pergo, that it does not hold up so well. He told me today that what he would suggest that you check into would be the Armstrong Nature's Gallery Exotic Collection. He absolutely loves the Yorkshire Walnut, but they do offer other colors. He says this product has a matt finish which looks nicer and does not show footprints and soil as much as the shiny surfaces of some other laminates.

Hope this helps you!!!! I've had the fever to move for a while now, been in this house for 5 years. However with our interest rate, just over 4% for a 15 year fixed, and the design works well for us, location is convenient. Guess we'll stay for a while. ;)

Hope you aren't too far from NYC so that when Melissa and I go there next year, which we are planning, we will get to see you and Gina.

Congratulations on such an exciting adventure!!!

Taurus Babe 06-05-2008 10:31 PM

DianaB 06-07-2008 07:40 AM
