Yorkietalk vs Women Talk

Just was checking on new posts on YT. So many like to judge, argue, etc.
I posted , that is why I enjoy our site more. Bet I will get blasted or we will get new members. I did mention that a lot of us have yorkies.:eek::eek:

DianaB 12-30-2008 01:12 PM

I used to be on YT a lot too but there's only so much I want to say about my dog. It just got very repetitive. I tried to stay out of the arguments. I love being on here!!! Not only can I talk about my dog but my family, friends, home, and anything else I want to talk about!!!! It would be really cool to get some new members!!!

Janet 12-30-2008 05:30 PM

I agree Diana. I do hope some join and are nice. Some join and post a few times then don't come back. I hope the new ones that have joined lately will come and stay for awhile and get to know us. We need some new active members.

Marilyn 12-30-2008 08:24 PM

It's much better here than YT. The best thing I got from YT was an introduction to 4WT.

Janet 12-31-2008 05:39 AM

Same here....we may get slow at times, but I'd rather be here than any other forum. I do love another one for Yorkies, but 4WT is still the best with the best.

judy 12-31-2008 08:12 AM

YT used to be better. I have to say that I learned pretty much everything I know about yorkies from YT, and from the people I met there. There are many wonderful people there too.

I stopped going on when the fighting began to take over the site. There was rarely a thread on there that didn't have at least a nasty post. Many had several mean spirited posts. Some people, it began to feel like, went on there just to be negative. As it got worse, I realized that I do not like it there, and stopped going. There is a group of members there who are just not worth my attention.

Jessie found YT the day that Gracie Leigh died. She was so upset and wanted to find me a new dog right away. She didn't even know that I was a member. She googled yorkies and found YT. Some people were lovely to her, but the fourth or fifth post was so vile and uncalled for that I still would like to respond to that woman. I would love to tell her exactly what I think about her mean and negative nastiness.

This was Jessie's post:

"DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A YORKSHIRE TERRIER BREEDER WITHA A FEMALE READY TO COME HOME. TRAGEDY STRUCK OUR HOME TODAY. MY MOM JUST MOVED UP FFROM THE CITY TO BE NEAR US BECAUSE I HAVE MS AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND MY OWN 100+ ALASKAN MALAMUTE GOT LOOSE AND KILLED MY MOM'S PRECIOUS , BELOVED GRACIE LEE, 1 YEAR OLD YORKIE. WE ARE ALL IN SHOCK AND THE KIDS SAW THE WHOLE THING, I KNOW MY MOM AND ALTHOUGH SHE HAS MAX A TWO YEAR OLD YORKIE I KNOW THE DISTRACTIONOF TAKING CARE OF A NEW BABY WILL HELP TO PREVENT HER FALLING INTO A TERRIBLE DEPRESSION. SHE HAS NOT EVEN CLOSED ON HER CONDO AND ONLY MOVED HER FURNITURE UP LAST NIGHT, SHE WAS GOING TO STAY WITH US FOR 4 Dys until the closing. i FEEL SOOOOO GUILTY AS DOES MY OLDEST DAUGHTER BECAUSE SHE WAS HOLDING THE LEASH, WE ALL FEEL LIKE WE ARE IN SHOCK, BUT I FEEL THAT LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW BABY NOT TO REPLACE THE FABULOUS GRACIE BUT TO FILL THE HOLE IN MY MOM'S HEART WILL HELP HER, PLEASE WRITE ME WITH ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS, I WILL DRIVE AS FAR AS 8 HOURS TO PICK UP THE PUPPY. WE ARE LOCATED IN DELAWRE COUNTY IN UPSTATE NEW YORK, JESSICA WRIGHT"

This was the response I am talking about:

"I'm sorry for your mom's loss, but to be honest, I don't know of anyone who would sell you a yorkie considering the risk of that happening again.

You really need to contact a dog behavior specialist to help your dog get over it's agression issues. You are fortunate that the dog was in your family and not a strsngers dog, or worse yet a child.

Dog agression should not be taken lightly.

I'm sorry if that souinds uncaring, because I do care, I care about the poor little dog that had to die unnecessarily. __________________

I went back on to post that Gracie had died and then to put up a memorial. Now, I'm done with them, except for a couple of sellers and breeders.

By the way, I do not disagree with that person's basic opinion. It was just so inappropriate and not the time nor place for it. She was so unaffected by my daughter's grief that I found it astonishing.

It certainly wasn't the time for her to lecture anyone or to give her opinion.

That was very thoughtless of her to respond thay way.

I also learned a lot about yorkies from yt. Tricksie is my first and it was greatly appreciated.

OK well here I am! I guess this is as good a place as any to introduce myself! I am a YT member, and have come here to see what life is like when it's not all about the furbabies!:D I like YT but really try hard to stay away from the drama and trouble threads. I like the pics and game threads the best! I am Abby2473 on YT....but my name is Linda, Lyn here because, well, that's what my siblings call me and I kind of like that ...;) (Abby is actually my cat's name)...Let's see, do I have to give a bio here? I'm married, work, we just bought our first house, have two Yorkies and I am, let's just say....not quite 50 yet...;) How am I doing so far?

AngieDoogles 12-31-2008 01:06 PM

Hi Lyn! The game and pic threads are about the only ones I post on as well. Too many controversial threads get out of hand and I prefer to stay away from drama.

Anyway, welcome to 4wt! I am 23 years old. I have two yorkies, two kittens and a wonderful hubby. I look forward to getting to know you better and seeing pics of your furbabies. :)

You are doing great.

I don't go into YT anymore myself. Have been absent a few years people just got nasty over the years they all know it all. It was nice at one time at the begining it was not crowed at all. I do like our community like others mentioned we owe it to YT to introduce this community ....

Hi Lyn, and welcome ! :)

Welcome Lyn!! So good to have you here!!!! Most of us came from YT and I have learned a lot from there and when I do have a question about something related to one of our two yorkies, do still go there and check out some of the related threads. There is a wealth of information, but way too many strong, unyeilding opinions about things that are matters of personal choice.

Hope you enjoy it here. I'm 54, two yorkies, as mentioned above, two gold fish and one wonderful hubby of 35 years.

Looking forward to getting to know you!!!

Hi Lyn! Welcome to 4WT.

;)We do require adorable pix of your family and pets.

This is a wonderful place. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Janet 12-31-2008 05:15 PM

I forgot to tell you Lyn that I'm Yorkie3 on most other Yorkie forums including YT. Right now I have a Golden Retriever Penny and 5 Yorkies....Emilee, Joey, Gidget, Fancy and Lissa. Oh and 2 puppies from Joey and Emilee. One puppy will be going to her forever home tomorrow.

If you ever need help with an avatar, just let me know and I'll be happy to make one for you. Just send me a PM or email me at AngieDoogles at Gmail dot com. You should be able to copy & paste your profile info from YT into your preferences here. I've done that before. :)

HI! I'm RowdysMom from YT - I only check in on the Off Topic thread. I just don't do the drama of the Yorkie-related threads. However, I will have to agree with Judy, I learned TONS from that site. I actually knew NOTHING about Yorkies when I decided to get one. I learned some before I got Rowdy, but found the site the day or so after I got him and it was a Godsend!!!

But now, I just don't like the big site and most of the people I once knew are no longer posting or post very rarely.

Welcome Lyn!

Hey Lyn,
I didn't mention that I'm 57, two yorkies, one daughter, two wonderful g-daughters, and one fantastic husband. I'm a nurse and live in Texas.

Marilyn 01-01-2009 10:45 AM

Lyn, are you getting the idea that we are glad that you are here???

Lyn 01-01-2009 11:42 AM

:D Gee, thanks...that does make me feel good! I like the (and I don't mean this in a bad way at all) "smallness" of this group...Sometimes on YT I feel so lost, I mean it seems there are so many new people every day it's hard to keep track!

It is definitely a lot smaller here. It's good because we get to know everyone so much better...and there are some AWESOME ladies here! ;) Glad you're enjoying the site so far. :)

Thanks! I was playing around in the studio and my hubby took that shot. If you want something similar, you can use a sheet or white wall as a background. You can do it in photoshop too, but (imo) it doesn't always look natural. Feel free to send my your pics and let me know what colors you like and I'd be happy to make one for you that moves.
