Micah
Micah woke up Sunday with a 102.6 fever, called the doctor's told me cool baths tylenol and motrin every 4 hours, if it continues to bring him in today, he is home with Grandma today still sleeping, but felt warm again this morning. so it looks like i will be taking him today after work. I'm calling Gram around lunch time to see what his temp. is .. so keep Micah in your thoughts.
|
Will do, Haley!!! Hope all is better when you get home today!!!
|
I hope your right, my MIL thinks its his two year old molars coming in.. I hope she is right about this.. I just hope its not something with his ears :(
|
Oh Haley...you've been though so much lately with Micah. Keeping the little guy in my prayers that it's just the molars coming in. I think those can be about as painful as the ears.

im on the phone now getting directions to pgh childrens for his heart test wednesday afternoon.. |
I called my MIL back again, she said Micah is doing fine, the little stinker still will not let her take his temp. she said he still feels alittle warm but is playing nice, taking medicine ( shot the kid gives it to himself when you fill up the siringe), so hopefully the fever is gone, i'll take his temp when i get home. she was getting ready to give him a nice cool bath,, so cross your fingers!
These fevers just come on so fast, he was ok all weekend except for Sunday morning he just woke up all miserable.. Maybe it is his teeth i really just don't know.. Maybe his ears?? Do you think i should call the ENT back?????? |
Haley, I'm so sorry that Micah's running a fever. It could be his teeth. Some kids just have a harder time with their teeth than others have. Hopefully, his temperature will be down and it will be better by the time you get home from work. I'm saying a prayer for Micah.
|
I hope Micah is feeling better real soon!
|
He was still warm when i went home last night but eatting and drinking good, he's in daycare today, gave him some motrin this morning, told them to give him tylenol every 4 hours and if his temp goes back up to call me. He has his heart test tom. so i'm not going to be at work again. I'm missing so many days :(.. but hopefully this will be his last doctor's apt for a while, he has a follow-up for his ear tubes early August. then we should be ok.. Thanks everyone for your prayers - hopefully Micah is on the road to a recovery!
|
You were asking about calling the ENT about the fever. If it persists, it wouldn't hurt to call. You can explain that you think it could be teething, but at least you let them know, in case, they do need to see him to check it out. Just my thoughts.

How is our little boy today? Poor little Micah....he has been sick for quite some time.
I'm sending prayers that this is all over, and that he will remain healthy. |

Was the test the echo cardiogram? If so, the patient must lie very still or the results are not valid. I don't work in pediatrics, but I can see that they might need to sedate a little one for the test. I'm sorry he has to go through this, hopefully, you will find out that everything is A-OK!
My hubby has to get an echo cardiogram every 3-4 months. He has to lay on his side for 15-20 minutes. It's not comfortable at all! |

I would be screaming too if someone shot liquid up my nose!!! I don't know much about pediatrics, was that the sedation medication????? I bet he was scared to death - and you too!

Mike took him sunday over his mothers for a couple hours so i could get the basement scrubbed down, and i also washed the inside of the suv, and while i had the hose out i did both porches and the siding on the house needed hoses down and all the outdoor furniture, i wonder why im tired today. too much to do... |
I'm glad that Micah's ears are doing better. I've thought about him all weekend.
I had a daughter that had speech lessons when she was little. She didn't have trouble hearing she just talked really dutchy and people had a hard time understanding her. We didn't have to do lessons for very long. It will take some time on your part to work with him but it's not anything hard, just time consuming. I bet that since he's hearing better he'll start talking better anyway, but lessons will be very helpful too. |
Thanks Diana,
what i'm having problems with Micah is he's droping the ending of words, like dog, he'll say do, i think he wasn't hearing the ending of words, so were trying to correct it.. so far - this last week, he will bark like a dog, meow like a cat, churp like a bird.. so i'm getting there, i got him a couple learning dvd's also i put in for him, so were getting there... colors i'm having a hard time with him, everything is blue or green he says booo or geeen... so were working on that also... i feel like a teacher :) LOL not a good one i may add.. |
ps, what i have to start doing is Micah drags me everywhere and points to stuff he wants, that's how he learned to communicate with us, so i'm trying to break him of that and it is very hard... he gets frustrated with me, when i ask him what he wants, he knows i know, but i'm trying to get him to say it. :(
Mike even makes it harder, cause he lets him cry until he tries to say it, Mike has no patients what so ever and he is starting to piss me off when he does this to Micah.. |

If his Dad has no patience, it really has nothing to do with you. I am sure you will teach him well, Haley. He will either be close to his Dad or he won't. |
he has class tonight, so i'm going to watch her real close and see what she does with him, i guess were both having class tonight :),, i'll try to do the same things she is working with him on..
Yea i don't think to many Dad's have patients, i really don't remember Mike even reading Micah a book, well maybe once.. it's always the Mom... I'm going to see if she moved MIcah up to twice a week also tonight, i would like to get her Tuesday's and Thursday's if i can. Then i work with him the rest of the week. |
Haley, it sounds of good to hear that you and Micah are making progress. He'll ge there with all that you are doing!!! You're such a good mom!!!

One thing that I remember doing with my daughter, Amy, is to have them look at you when you say a word. Have Micah watch your mouth so he can imitate your actions on pronouncing words. Especially stress the ending of the words if that's what he's having trouble with. Have him repeat the word several times. Your speech counselor should have a list of words for you to work with.

but she don't have a list yet, she was writing down all the words that he was trying to say... |
He'll be improving in a NY minute Haley, with all of the work you are doing!
You are such a good Mom. |
