MIL In Nursing Home
 

My husband visits his step-mom in the nursing home every Tuesday and Friday after work. She has cancer and it is getting worse. When he went to visit on Tuesday he walked in and she was crying. No TV on or anything like usual. She told him everyone things she's crazy. Because of the cancer...she doesn't really have to, but the pressure makes her feel she needs to pee every 15-30 minutes.

It does drive the aides a little crazy, because Vivian isn't the only one they have to take care of and she thinks they need to be there 2 seconds after she pushes her call button.

She made the comment to hubby that she wanted out of there and didn't see why, between us and her two daughters why we can't take care of her. There is no way...she needs to be monitored all the time, plus we work.

I'ts just so sad and it breaks my heart. I hate to see her in this condition of health, but I also hate the way it has caused her to start losing her mind. I hope no one else has to go through this with family members. It's so hard.

It is hard - and very heartbreaking. My MIL was in the nursing home for over 15 years. It was hard to watch her health physically and mentally decline. Now she's in a better place.

I know I face this with my own parents someday. I can't even imagiine.
