Well guys, here he is!!!!! He kept us up most of the night, having to go potty every 2 hours, but we made it and we are still obsessed with him! Lamar and hubby are currently sleeping on the floor in the living room. He's just an all around good dogs. He hasn't messed in his crate and other than waking us every 2 hours to potty, he really didn't make too much racket last night. The breeder did say that she bred for good temperments so he should be calm and laid back.

Now, he's the delima I have.....I want to neuter him. I don't want him marking his territory in my house or sticking out his "red rocket" at the most inopportune times and humping things. BUT, the breeder begged me not to get him fixed. She said that he is show quality and if I ever decide to show him, I wouldn't be able to if he was neutered. She even said when he gets older, she would show him FOR me. So, what should I do?? Neuter him or not????

Rebecca.. He is sooooooooo beautiful.... Congratulations!! About the neurting, think it through, you don't have to make a decision at this moment. Weigh the pros and cons and I am sure you will come to an answer.

Thanks, everyone!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D I discussed it with the vet, and since I really do not have the time to devote to the whole show thing, I am going to get him neutered.

Oh Rebecca!!! He is so adorable. It makes me want to get another lab now!! Ours were good dogs too, well one of them was kind of onry, but still a good dog. One good thing, they didn't start hiking until they were a year old (we never had them neutered back then, but they never reproduced either). It was always a big deal when we saw them hike the first time outside. The labs we had were housetrained so fast and never ever went in the house.

He really is being such a good boy. He really just sleeps all the time, like a little baby should! I'm really looking forward to the day that he is 100% potty trained! I can't WAIT!!!!!! I'm hoping that since I'm getting him neutered at 4 months of age that he won't EVER hike his leg to pee. Am I bad to want that? My yorkie, Hobbs, was neutered early and he still squats to pee. I want my lab to be like that, too.

Rebecca! Lamar is adorable!!! and so are you! I agree...I would also have him neutered...

Marilyn 01-17-2007 08:53 PM

He is gorgeous!!!!!!! I don't know that much about labs and their marking tendencies, but I'd go with neutering to make life simpler. Unless it causes them to carry more weight. We have one male dog, a yorkie. He is neutered and has a weight problem. It is hard to keep it under control.

You are going to have so much fun with Lamar!!!

My Ferdinand is 8 months and not yet neutered (though I want to get it done SOON because his testosterone is now out of control) and he does not hike his leg to pee. A friend of ours that has had yorkies her whole life said we'd have to teach him - but I didn't want him to so I never did. Maybe I should hurry and have it done so he doesn't start?

Lamar is absolutely ADORABLE!!!!
