Need Prayers Please

Hi Everyone,

My dad is having surgery on his shoulder Thursday. He is 77 years old.
After he gets out of the hospital he will come up here and live with us
until he gets better. I hope I have the patience. He likes to feel sorry for himself all the time. Sits at home all the time and just watches TV.
Doesn't go any where and wonders why no one comes to see him.
I'm afraid after he comes up here he won't be able to live on his own again.
Don't get me wrong. I love my dad but he is just to self centered.
Thanks for reading.

I'll keep you in my prayers. It's hard seeing your parents get older.

Cecil, I wish we could say something to help and encourage you. From your user name, it sounds like you have a lot to handle already and know that this is going to add to your load. Come here and vent to us anytime you need. We are here for you!!!

My prayers will go out for your Dad to recover quickly and for you to have the patience to enjoy his visit.

If all he wants to do is sit and watch tv, I'd create a little spot for him to do just that without being right in the center of everything. He's not likely to change his ways at this age, so just giving him what he wants sounds reasonable to me.

Hey Linda!! Sorry your dad has to go through surgery. It's tough at that age. Know that I will keep him AND you in my prayers. Do you have any idea how long he'll need to recuperate? Hope for your sake it's a speedy recovery. Hope everyone is doing okay!!

"I hope the surgery goes well, and, I think what Tink said really makes a lot of sense. Go with the flow and don't fight who he is. Who knows, you might even learn to enjoy him more.

My well wishes for a speedy recovery to your dad, and like Tink says it can be worse. Hang in there.
