Favorite Slow Cooker recipe???

Trying to get a collection of good slow cooker recipes going. What's your favorite???

Janet 09-14-2006 05:10 PM

:) About the only thing I cook in a slow cooker is the Crock Pot dressing. I do put meat and potatoes in once in a while, but not often. So a big SORRY from me. I'm sure someone here will have some great ones.

I make a vegetable soup in the crock pot. Not much to it though.
1 can of tomato juice
1 can of peas
1 can of cut green beans(I think its cut, I know its not french style)
1 can of whole corn
cube some potatoes
slice some carrots
ground beef cooked and drained

Drain all the veges then just stick everything in the pot, add whatever seasoning you like, I usually just do salt and pepper sometimes I get adventurous. You may want to add the tom. juice last though sometimes it won't hold a whole can so you can just add it to the leftovers later.

edit---I think its kitchen sliced green beans maybe

my dtr loves this crockpot recipe

Chicken Licken

6 to 8 chicken legs, thighs or breasts
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 large onion chopped
1 clove garlic minced (I just chop mine and i use more garlic too)
1 teaspoon salt
2 tsp paprika (i use more)
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 chili powder (i always use more ginger and chili powder but that's just me)
1 can (16 ounces) whole tomatoes ( i use whatever is on sale diced, chopped whatever)
i can (4 oz.) sliced mushrooms -don't need 'em if ya don't like 'em
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream - again i use more

melt butter in skillet and brown chicken pieces. Place chicken in crock-pot stir together remaining ingredients except heavy cream and pour over chicken. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high 4 to 5 hours. Just before serving , stir in heavy cream and serve over pasta-we like angel hair pasta. i make garlic bread with this and we all pig out!!! hope you like it!!!:D

Great! Keep 'em coming!

Yum, those both sound good, and look easy to make!

Of course, I'm always sad when I see ground "ginger" in a recipe ;)

place raw pork chops on the bottom of the pot
Slice raw potatoes with skins on on top of the pork chops
put a layer of frozen broccoli straight fromt he bag onto the pork chops
cover with Campbells cheddar cheese soup straight from the can.
black pepper to taste

let simmer for several hours and enjoy!

----------------------------------------------------

Slice raw potatoes with skins on to cover bottom of pot
put in a layer of baby carrots on top of potatoes
slice a medium onion on top of the carrots (optional or may be replaced by green pepper)
put a layer of raw ground beef on top of the onions

cover with one can each of campbells tomato and your favorite cream type soup.
salt and pepper to taste.

-----------------------------------------------------

ribs and bar-b-que sauce cook very nicely in a crock pot. just put a cup of water in to prevent it from getting dry.

Pork roast covered in sauerkraut makes for a yummy meal in a crock pot.
Just toss them in together and enjoy the smells as it cooks! :D

I have LOTS more if you need 'em! I love my crock pot 'cause I start it in the morning, go to work, and come home to a nice meal.

You are going to think I'm totally bizarre, but here goes....did you know that "veal" is a baby cow? I was working in a factory once and bought a veal sandwich from one of the machines. We were sitting at a table talking about the machine food wasn't that bad at all. I couldn't remember what veal was and then I remembered seeing a documentary where all these baby cows where lined up in these pens and getting ready for slaughter. I instantly threw up....I was so embarassed!!!!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW poor little baby!!!!!! I can't eat venison either. My husband used to hunt, but I could sit on the porch and watch the deer..does, bucks and the babies and I could just never bring myself to eat it. I could definitely fix it for the boys...they'd love it and it's so easy to fix. :)

Oh gosh. My hubby hunts, too. But the only way I justify it is to eat it! :p I was an Agricultural Economics major in college and part of the Ag. Industry is meat processing. Well, for one of my classes I had to go to a meat processing plant and watch cows, pigs, and sheep be slaughtered and processed and everything from the time they are alive until their meat is at the grocery store. It was pretty eye opening. But, if people didn't eat meat, it would be extremely bad for the environment because cow farts emmit methane gas which severely depletes the o-zone layer. So, EAT MEAT, or it will be detrimental to the earth! :D :D :D
