Ready for winter

Today was a gorgeous day to do the garden, and get it ready for winter, it was nice, warm, and NO rain for a change.
I started this morning early by bathing the girls, because Chanel had been playing in the sand, ran inside, and decided to jump all over my light colored couches, AGAIN (second time this week)
After their bath, i got myself ready, took my bulbs that were laying there waiting to be planted, and had a blast.
Cut down a lot of bushes, cut the lawn, and cleaned up, had a few breaks, and sat out enjoying the sun!
Now i feel so much better, knowing it's all done, and ready!!
Can really tell fall is starting, around 4 it became chilli outside.

It sounds like you got a lot accomplished! You'll have everything all ready for spring! I know that the nightime temperatures are starting to cool off here too. Right now it's really nice in the daytime and cooler at night but the leaves are falling quickly!

We have Reuger trained not to jump up on the furniture so we avoid having muddy prints. However he jumps up and down in front of the couch trying to get our attention so we'll put him up there with us. He's allowed on the furniture when we want him up there. When we have friends over they don't suddenly have a dog in their lap unless they want him there.

It is still way to hot to do much of anything here. We're having record breaking temperatures for this time of year...near 90 degrees. It starting to get pretty outside, but it's just so humid. Suppose to have a cold front move in next week, I'm so ready for fall temps.

Since you'll have all your outside work done Mandy, you can come help me...LOL

Oh Janet, i so wish we had your temps!! I hate the cold, but it's cosy inside specially in the evenings, i light loads of candles, that makes me feel better LOL

Janet, i'll gladly help you, i really had a blast doing mine.

You must be having the same weather as here Mandy, have had to put our heating on the last couple of nights, in a couple of weeks our clocks go back just hate the dark evenings.

The joy of apartment living - preparing for winter is getting the car checked out, sending my coat to the cleaners and buying winter shoes and a red patent leather handbag!

Oh...and a new coat for Max and Gracie Leigh. His is ordered. It's a custom-made Harley Davidson hoodie and Gracie Leigh has a turquoise silk kimono type coat. I'll take a picture as soon as she gets groomed (this week). She's just messy looking right now. His didn't come yet.

Did I mention my plants? They get watered a little more often because of the heat
coming up.

Of course, I don't have the pleasure of a garden, which I think is so wonderful!

Yes Highlans, same weather. Today again was absolutly gorgeous. My parents visited this afternoon, mom, and i sat outside till quite late, as much as we wanted to stay out, we had to come in, because it was just too chilli.

Judy, I can't wait to see your pictures either!! The coats sound like they'll be sooo cute!!!

Mandy, we were having temperatures around 90* too but we've had a cold front come through and now it's so much nicer. I don't know what the temps are but it's definitely a lot cooler than it was!

Lindsey 10-09-2007 04:04 PM

It's definitely close to winter here! Every morning there's frost on the ground and I can see my breath in the cold air! On Sunday I rode my bike for the last time this year... just across town to my grandma's house to store it in her garage for the winter. I work in an office with no windows, and now I only see about an hour of sunlight before work, and another hour after work :(

Judy I want to see those photos to of the furbabies in their winter coats....lol
As far as the weather here it was hot up to yesterday like Janet we had record breaking temp of 85 . Today it dropped to hi 60's , old man winter is on his way :(
I should learn how to putter in garden but I don't have a green thumb...

Gina, i dont have the green thumb either lol but i just plant, some of them will have to come out huh :D
Ive been looking at winter coats for the babies, they each have 2, but i would like the nylon padded ski jackets or something, and been wondering if they would like some boots? LOL... Chanel might think i gave her wings and tries to fly LMAO

Janet 10-10-2007 05:28 AM

Yeah!!! Our heat wave has ended! I don't want cold, but I love the fall temps so much. Today the high will only be in the 50's, but the rest of the week should be in the 60's. It's so nice to go out and work in the yard and not feel like you're going to pass out from the heat.

I still haven't gotten much done, but I'm at least thinking about it...LOL That's a step in the right directions. Maybe if I go as far as writing it down on a piece of paper where someone else can see it, I can watch someone else actually do the work.....NOT!!!! LOLOL
