Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire...

So the song sings....Chestnuts roasting on an open fire ~ yadda yadda :)

Have any of you ever eaten roasted chestnuts? I've never even seen them let alone eat them.

I wonder if they are good?

I'm like you, Sheryl. I've never seen them or eaten them. I don't think that I've seen them in the store either.

They're so good. They used to sell them on the street from those carts. I'd go to Macy's with my parents and we'd get them. It was a really nice Chrismassy thing to do.
Thanks - that was a fun memory!

You gonna try them Sheryl?

For money, you can get anything! I googled roasted chestnuts:

Nuts: Whole Roasted Chestnuts 15 oz

Nuts: Whole Roasted Chestnuts 15 oz
$27.00
Entiers Marrons The most traditional use of chestnuts is... More roasted whole, with the shell and peel. Before eating, remove the outer shell and inner bitter tasting skin to obtain the edible kernel. Although chestnuts can be eaten raw after peeling they are usually cooked in some way. Nut: Chestnut Brand: Sabaton Shelf Life: Shelf Stable, 2 Years Preparation: Roasted Packaging: Jar

Thanks for the info Judy. It sounds more special to walk down NY city streets ordering them from a cart like you did. Mmmmmm all hot and toasted. That really sounds like a great memory for you. :p

Awwww Mandy - that's sweet. Why don't ya just grab a bag of chestnuts, load a suitcase, and fly here with them. :D Don't forget to bring the girls too!

Sherly roasted chestnuts were always part of my Christmas tradition with my parents. They are delicious and most of the super markets have them. You have to slice them open a little and then put them in a pan and place in bottom of oven , and roast them. If you don't have the broiler put them in oven. I don't make them to much work in opening them. But they are delicious...
