Looking forward to tonight
Tonight I'm going over to my friends Sarah and Ryan's house. They are a young married couple who are very similar to Brendon and me. Anyway, we are having a truly "Southern" dinner...fried chicken, mashed potatoes, some veggies, and for dessert--peach cobbler and vanilla icecream! YUM! :)
I hope everyone else has a fun Friday night as well! |
That is almost my favorite meal Angie. My favorite is fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, veggies and choc. cake with choc. icing and ice cream.....LOLOL This is what I always had for my birthday growing up. You enjoy your meal....wish I could join you.

Oh yum Angie. A great meal with great company. It doesn't get any better than that! I am always so envious of those who can fry up chicken so tasty. I think that I am a pretty good cook but oh do I stink when it comes to frying chicken.
Hope your evening was a blast. |
Hope you had a good time honey.
|
Hope you had a really nice time together. Sounds like good food and good company, what could be better??!!

(By the way, I only know all that from watching Ryan do it because I sure as heck have never done it myself.) :p :D |

I don't "fry" mine anymore because of the oil, but I use the recipe on the Bisquick box and it's alot like fried but I think that it's lower fat. It's so easy because you just bake it in the oven and turn it over once while it's baking. I scrape off the crumbs and put in a skillet to make gravy out of. Very easy and less mess! BTW-Jaci says to tell everyone HI!!! |

And you said you will fix it for me??????? Uh well.....uh...I'll get back to you on that.....:p |
I quit trying to "fry" that chicken - especially after my last attempt...
My parents were over and the plan was to fry a chicken dinner for them. The norm for me is to cook mass quantities of food so with this in mind I had to fry the chicken in batches. While one batch fried I had the other in a hot oven to keep the pieces warm. My assembly line of frying went on without a hitch. Fry, blot, thrown in the oven, fry, blot, thrown in the oven.....:p Meanwhile getting the rest of the meal ready took awhile and it seems that the fried chicken might have stayed in the oven a tad too long. :o All of us sitting around the table taking their first bite of chicken, poof!!! Nothing but fried skin. The chicken inside was cooked beyond anything but air. I don't know if any of you ever watched the movie National Lampoon's Christmas vacation, but it was just like their turkey meal. Oh gosh it was awful but we all giggle about it now. :D |

Hmm, I'll remember to steer clear of your gravy Diana. :) |
I have a sister-in-law who makes gravy that tastes like bisquit dough. We steer way clear of her cooking!!!
