Job losses bring about dog days...
Dad sent this to me, what a sad sign of the times.

so heartbreaking........

Yeah, I read about that in the paper. I just can't believe the heartless things people do. I'd go hungry myself before making any of my pets skip a meal, much less abandon any of them.
|
For the most part, I feel the same way Bev.
They were saying these people were basically homeless unable to pay utilities... I think it was very selfless to want more for a pet on one hand, on the other I couldn't live with myself abandoning them and failing them. Like the end of that clip says, that face would haunt me :( So sad, you could tell those dogs were very well cared for and loved  |
That is really sad. There was an article in the paper saying the the Humane Soc. in Indianapolis is no longer taking strays. Not enough money in their budget supposedly so now the pound has to take them. Not a good thing. They said there will probably be more running lose because people would rather turn them out then turn them in to the pound.

How sad! I can't ever imagine having to make that choice.

I have been in that situation. Although it was my two cats and not dogs, I became homeless with three of my four kids. (Thanks to my ex who decided he was kicking us out to move his new GF in.) I had to quit my job because he watched the kids for me to work nightshift and I couldn't finishing nursing school because clinicals started way before school did. It came to a point that I had to choose to try to keep the cats in a car or let them go and hope someone took them in. I put them out in a middle class neighborhood with tears falling down my face, but they had a better chance their than in a pound.

wow chandra what a thing to go through.
if i was homeless there wouldn't be any way i could keep pets. but i would go down to the cheapo pet food in order to keep them, ol' roy and food scraps! |
Don't forget-there are many no kill shelters around. And when it comes right down to it, it would be better to be painlessly PTS in a shelter, than to starve to death, be attacked by another animal, poisoned or hit by a car.

That is so sad! you can see the bad times are hitting around my area too, and with gas prices going sky high it's just going to get worse.
