I wanted to share with everyone, Joey's 4th BD party, last March 24th.
This is 6 weeks before Pete died. The medicine made his face flushed.

What a great picture Kathy!! Looks like the grandkids loved him as much as he loved them. The picture is a treasure.

oh, what a great picture! My mom had a calendar made from www.snapfish.com. It has a picture of my grandfather that I love in it. If you haven't found a great way to preserve the photo already, snapfish may have a good answer. They have great products.

What a handsome guy Kathy! I'm so glad he got to spend time with the kids. He does look happy. I'm sure his life with you and his family was wonderful.

I think Traci's idea is a great one.

What an amazing picture. Definitely one to treasure. He looks like he was a lot of fun. Wouldn't know that anything was wrong from his smile. How blessed you are to have had the time with him that you shared, and the memories of those times.

I agree with the others.....What a picture to treasure!!! The love that your husband has for his grandchildren really shows in his expression!

You know Diana, I don't know if Kathy saw the shadow box you made....maybe she would like to make something like that to help heal her sorrow. I thought the one you made was the most awesome I've seen.

Hmmmm.........I'll have to find that thread again...........

Ok, here it is, it's post #8. It's a curved picture frame that I put some pictures and momentos in. You could put pictures of your husband and put a few things of his around it. It would be a really nice keepsake.

Janet,
I've been working on Scrap books of my hubby with my daughters, and that helps quite a bit. We work on them whenever we're all together.
We made a gorgeous one of his military service in the army, just breathtaking! It's from the day he enlisted, to the day he come home from Vietnam.

Kathy I want to reiterate what the others have said. Treasure all those photos. The look in the photo is a true admiration of love from grandpa to grandchildren and vice versa.

Kathy though it is hard I am sure. Just remember it is better to have loved than never to have loved.. How true is that phrase. Post many more pictures it is nice to share.. Btw your grandchildren are adorable. :)

Diana,
I love the picture frame, it brought happy tears to my eyes. What a great idea, I'm going over to Hobby Lobby tonite. Wouldn't my daughters and grandkids love a keepsake like that, made by me with all kinds of Grampy stuff in it?
Oops, sharing time: My grandkids call me "Gramma Goofy" It is so funny to hear them call me when we're out in public. It all started with my Goofy sweatshirt 6 yrs ago and just stuck.
Thank so much.

Kathy, the frame that I used is an antique one and it was pretty expensive but you can find shadow boxes at Hobby Lobby or look on e-bay.

Hi Jenny, funny seeing you here!!!

Forgivenmom5 03-28-2008 07:09 PM

Kat that is a great picture. Just look how happy your husband was. It is so hard to loose someone and miss him so much but it looks like you had a very happy life and you can never loose those memories. My Uncle just passed away and my Aunt is having a really hard time. I just hope she will soon feel better and rely on the memories of their happy 53 years together.
