I think it get's used to cover up any blemishes and dark rings under the eyes.

I've never even heard of it. Is this something you can purchase at just any ol' drug store or do you have to get it online?

Whenever I use foundation, I ALWAYS use a primer beforehand. It is supposed to make your face more smooth and even so the foundation goes on evenly. It also helps it to stay on longer. I love it and highly recommend using a primer before you put on your foundation. I cannot imagine ever NOT using primer again. I love Laura Mercier primer. Actually, I love their whole makeup line.

Oh yeah, forgot to add, primer has the consistency and texture of a moisturizer. It is clear and you just apply it like a moisturizer or lotion before you put on your foundation.

The description of a "primer" from the Laura Mercier website says:

Just as a painter "primes" a canvas, Foundation Primer - the original - was created by Laura Mercier in 1995 to "prime" the skin. Foundation Primer is a lightweight, creamy gel - used prior to foundation - that acts as an invisible barrier between skin and makeup that acts as a buffer to outside elements. This colorless gel leaves makeup looking fresh & colour-true the entire day.

Here is the site where you can order it.

It also comes in Oil Free for oily skin.

AND Hydrating if you have dry skin.

Thanks , that clears it up for me, I'll have to give it a try. I saw it on a t.v. commercial that was a new product line aimed at over 40 women, I can't remember the brand though.

I have never used a primer before my foundation, but I do use a primer on my eyelashes before I put on mascara!

Anyone at any age will benefit from using a foundation primer. I'm 22 and I will never wear foundation again without the primer. It just makes your face look so smooth and helps the foundation just glide right on.
