Little House on the Prairie
4 Attachment(s)
Last month before school started I drove 3 of my grandchildren south of Independence to the location of the Little House on the Prairie. They had been taking craft classes there all summer. Anyway this is one of the locations that Laura Ingalls Wilder lived with her parents and sisters and is thought to have been where the earliest stories began. The log cabin is not the original but is a replica of what is thought to have been there. A school house and a post office have been moved in there as well but has no connection to the Ingalls family.

That is so cool Diana!!! I used to LOVE Little House on the Prairie. I used to read the books, and I remember my dad and I would watch the show every night before I went to bed, and he would explain to me how things happened in pioneer days.
That would be such a cool place to see! |
I always loved the TV series Little House on the Prairie, but regretfully have never read the books. I really must do that sometime since I love reading true stories.
These are great pictures Diana, your grandkids look like a lot of fun! |
Cool!
My dh works out of Northfield MN which you often heard mentioned in the "Little house" series. They have a nice tribute to her similar to the one Diana showed. My girls all loved those books and now my Granddaughter Paige is into them. |
There's really not too much to see except for what I posted and the inside of the post office, which wasnt' much. There's a gift shop and they have a framed card that Laura had given to someone and it has her signature on it.
The crafts that the kids did all had to do with things that Laura would have made. I didn't even know about it until I was asked to take them there. They were suppose to have made homemade ice cream by rolling a can but the weather didn't cooperate for them. |
What a wonderful field trip.
