DNA reports are finally back!
I just got the DNA test results back on 3 of my dogs today. It's SO cool to know these details about them considering I use them for breeding. All 3 tested clean of any genetic defects for the following issues:
# Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) # Hypothyroidism with Goiter (HTG) (Congenital Hypothyroidism) # Cystinuria (CYST) # Globoid Cell Leucodystrophy (GCL) # Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) # Phosphofructosokinase Deficiency (PFK) # Von Willebrand Disease (vWD) # Narcolepsy (NARC) # Cone degeneration (CD) # Canine Leucocyte Adhesion Deficiency (CLAD) # Hemophilia B (HmB) # Muscular Dystrophy (MD) # Myotonia Congenita (MC) # GMI Gangliosidosis (GMIG) # Retinal Dystrophy (prad) # SCID (DNA-PKc & DNA PKc2) # Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VII (GUSB_NOSVVIII) # Thrombasthenic Thrombopathia (THROM) Besides this, it details what colors they all carry, so I know before ever breeding them what color potential their puppies have. I now know that my 2 black females both have the potential to carry one color other than black like themselves. Hana carries yellow, Misty carries chocolate, and Chip carries chocolate AND yellow. Gotta love modern technology! |
Oh Wow!!! That's pretty cool information!! I didn't know that you could have that done on your dogs!!!
|
That's really cool - it also must be re-assuring to know they are clear of passing along any of those conditions.
|
That's so interesting. I love technology.
They carry great genes, and now you can mix and match for colors. It sounds like fun. |
I probably should have DNA's all the dogs, but I've only done Joey so far.
|
i wonder if i could get one on Mike, see what he's good for! :awink:
