HELP, yorkie is MATTED!!!!!

Tricksie's hair is long, she got groomed Thursday and her hair is matted to the skin mostly between her shoulders. I am using Ice on Ice detangler but getting no where. Saw on YT to use cornstarch but I don't have any. Think I will try cornmeal. Left a message for the groomer but she hasn't called.
I am so :mad::mad::mad:

I know when Reuger gets into the stick-tights so bad I use regular hair conditioner on him. You might try that and lightly brushing her out. Or there's spray in conditioner. It works great on kids.

I've used kids spray detangler on Rex and Rowdy - it works great, but then I have to bathe them because it is so greasy. I don't think corn meal will work - the corn starch is fine powder that may get into the mats to loosen them, but I dont think corn meal will do that.

Think they are just about out.
Can't believe my groomer didn't call. Will negotiate a price next month.

If she's matted just between her shoulders, you might see if something there is iritating her skin. Sounds like she's been scratching a bunch. Zoe has long hair, and when she scratches a spot, she gets a big tangle.

Glad the mats are almost out!!

I wish I could help, but mine have never ever matted. I usually comb and brush them at least once a day, but more like twice. I think I read on YT to use Cowboy Magic for mats and that it is something everyone should have on hand.

I have my best friends Yorkie and she was matted to the skin just horribly. She will fight with everything she has against being brushed or combed. The groomer that my friend took her to knows how to handle her and was able to get all the mats out. Amazing woman if you ask me...LOL...this dog is a tough one...at 2 lbs 14 ozs.

Looks like you did a good job Donna. Tricksie looks so shiney and smooth in the picture...very pretty gir!

Her coat looks great. I hope the mats are out.

Max was all matted for the first time in his life. The groomer cut his back short but left the sides long. She took out a ton of mats. I think stress is drying his skin and hair out, because he just doesn't mat. Annie gets those nasty little belly knots and hates being combed. She's a feisty little one.

When I had my Rob my husband would say its world war three when I combed him, but when he went to the groomer he was an angel she did not belive me when I said he was a little horror.

She actually was good, I just worked on her for 30 min. at the time.
Left the detangler comb on the coffee table and she tried to steel it, bet she never wants to see it again.
Got to go shopping, hints from YT, Perfect Coat and Star's Buddy Splash.
Just don't understand, she is 2 and this has never happened before but will be ready next time, if there is one she will get a puppy cut.:D

The groomer for this dog says she is terribel to work with. She just doesn't let the dog win...lol. I tried again yesterday and she was biting and carrying on like a nutcase. She does love to be loved on though, so you just take the good with the bad. She loves my husband alot, so he has been using the back of the comb on her just to get her more use to it. Don't know if it's working yet or not, time will tell.

I shaved my boys this weekend! had enough! My Dexter has a cotton coat that gets matted to the skin on a daily basis. I have easily spent an hour a day for weeks on end trying to keep him dematted, it just didnt work. I gave up and shaved him. :) He is happy, Im happy and there are no matts! :) What a chore though. He HATES being brushed and wiggles, bites the brush/comb, fights me every step of the way!
