Goulash

I have had this recipe for a coupla months and decided to make it yesterday. It was fantastic!! I love cooking when you only have to use one kettle. A warning though, it makes a 5 qt kettle full, we shared it with our neighbor. He loved it too!!

2 lbs ground beef
1 lg onion chopped
3 cloves garlic
3 cups water
2- 15 oz cans tomato sauce
2- 15 oz cans diced tomatoes
2 tblsp italian seasoning
3 bay leaves
3 tblsp soy sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tblsp season salt
2 cups macaroni (uncooked)

Saute beef, add onions and garlic, saute about 5 min.
Add other ingredients except macaroni
Cover and cook 20 min.
Add macaroni, simmer 30 min. let stand another 30 min.
Remove bay leaves and serve.

Thanks so much Paula. Gary loves goulash and I just freelance it, sometimes it's good, sometimes, not so much. Now, I have a tested recipe that I can use!!!

I will have to try this....it sounds so good. Probably won't be for awhile though...have to be in the mood to cook....LOL.

My Mom used to make goulash when I was very young.
She browned hamburger and stirred it in a can of spagetti.. yuck!!
For years I hated goulash. The thought of it brought back that horrible meal.

Then a few years ago, a friend at work brought me in some of her goulash. It was so good, and now I am a lover of goulash!

Your recipe sounds good! Going to have to try it soon. Thanks for sharing!

I'm going to make it this week! I bought some meat at the market that has to be cooked before I can make something else - but come Wed/Thurs, I'm making goulash!

Thanks Paula. That looks like a great winter meal. I think it would pretty easy to make it low fat too. I'm going to try it. I can portion it out into baggies, and freeze them.

I so hope you liked it!!!!!!!! Did ya make it yet?

gja1000 10-01-2009 06:05 PM

Darn! I got home from work too late to get it made, so I am planning to make it tomorrow when I will have more time.

We had Taco Bell tonight! :D Hey I offered to make some other things that were quick, but some guy that lives with me requested Taco Bell. I wonder what that says about my cooking. LOL!

paula1961 10-02-2009 05:21 AM

I hope you get a chance to make it today. Sometimes Taco Bell just hits the spot! Maybe that guy that lives with you was just in the mood for a taco:D
