Getaway with the Girls!

Once or twice a year, two of my girlfriends and I leave our husbands at home and get away together for a couple of days. We are leaving tomorrow and will be back on Friday. We are going to a little town, Kerrville, and we have a cabin on the river. We have a fire pit out back and we have to make smores. We'll shop, drink spice tea, watch movies and have a good time. One of us has not seen The Full Monty - so that will definitely be on the agenda. It's one of my favorite movies! The lady who owns the cabins is a massage therapist so we have massages scheduled Thursday morning!

I'm thinking I may have posted this somewhere already - I'm not sure LOL! CRS, you know. So, if you've read this already, just please excuse me!! LOL!

I haven't read it..but I also suffer from CRS:o

OK, do you want me to just meet you there? Massages, The Full MontySmores....I'm JEALOUS, lol!!

I think this is what we should do for a 4WT get together:D

Yep, come on Betsi! You would fit right in. :D

We have been known to use a candle to make smores when the rain cancelled our bonfire! No kidding!!!

You are right - we SHOULD do something like this for a 4WT get together!!

Candle to make smores...that's funny...AND SMART!!! We have made them here over my gas stove:p Hmmm.... I may need to go to the store!

That sounds like so much fun!!
Girl time is so important.. enjoy your days!!

Betsi, I had to laugh when you spoke of making smores over your gas stove.
My mom taught me at a early age to cook weiners over the gas stove!
No boiled weiners for me!!! I like mine browned and a little burnt.. :)

We had a great time - got home today and promptly took a NAP! LOL!

We got there Wednesday about 5:00 after stopping in a cute little town to do some shopping on the way. Our cabin was TINY, but just fine for us.

We found a local restaurant and had catfish for supper. MMMMMM! Then we drove around to look at Christmas lights. We went back to the cabin to watch movies. We didn't have any TV stations, only a DVD player, but we had brought plenty of movies.

Pat (picture posted below) had never seen The Full Monty. So, we watched that first and laughed till we cried. Next we watched, Shall We Dance, with Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere.

It was pretty cold outside (and windy) so we made our smores over the gas burner on the stove - they tasted GREAT!

On Thursday, we went to a little town about 5 miles away that has a little "artist loop" where local artisans had crafts and wares. We shopped at all the stores (only about 10), then we headed back to the town were we were staying and shopped the little local stores and antique shops. We had a lot of fun - didn't buy too much, just a few odds and ends.

Then we ate at the local steakhouse, MMMMM GOOD! We went back to the cabin and watched Chocolat and White Christmas.

Today we headed home and stopped at a "flea/antique market and shopped some more. We had a great time, but were ready to be home for the weekend!

I've posted some pictures below.

1. Bird's Nest Cottages
2. View of our cottage
3. Gayle (my girlfriend)
4. Pat (my other girlfriend)

A couple more pictures

1) Christmas lights that were INSIDE the cottage on the living room wall. We thought they were cute and funky, my daughter said they were ghetto! LOL!

2) Just another view of the cottages, we actually have some leaf color this year!!! And you can see the Massage Therapy sign in this picture. We got our massages in the morning on Thursday - it was VERY relaxing!
