OMG!!! I will be locking my car from now on! This is becoming really bothersome and scary!

OMGosh!! That is just too scary!! The inside of that car is simply demolished!! Yes Judy make sure you lock your car!

I locked it tonight when I got home. I left NY for peace and quiet, and now we have bears!!!

People aren't walking for exercise as much, and someone was walking his dog 2 nights ago. He had his flashlight, and there were 2 bears!

Locking your car won't necessarily keep a bear out of it - they can break a windshield or window if they want in. Sorry to tell you that but it is true. The only reason they'd break into a car is for food, so DON'T leave any food or food stuff in your car. My cousins were camping in Yosemite and were sleeping in a tent. The rangers tell you to put all your food in your vehicle - NOT in the tent with you. A bear broke out their windshield and got their food while they watched from the tent.

So, the key is not to leave anything that smells good in your car.

I hope that they're able to do something about your bear situation. That's scary!!!

Or anything that smells BAD! Not that you would keep gross stuff in your car, but bears eat garbage, rotting food, anything.

You shouldn't leave anything with a scent out at all, even if it's not food. They'll even be attracted to toothpaste, lotion, candles, etc.

Strange. The video was about a dam breaking in Iowa. Y'all are talking about bears. Oh well, lock your car, Judy!!

judy 07-27-2010 07:13 AM

They may have changed the subject of the video to update it Marilyn. My cousin sent me the same video, by the way!

I'm taking the plastic garbage bag out of the car, and decided not to worry about it too much. I would imagine that the bear problem will be addressed at some point by the county or the state. Anyway, the good thing about bears is that they hibernate in the winter~!
