It was adorable! Another couple of children participated, and then Brandon and Kass went up and took turns reading. They read about examples of sins, like fighting with your brothers and sisters and being noisy in school. The priest, Father Joe, is a wonderful man. The service was very nice. He follows all of the traditions, but he really communicates with the members during the mass. He is down to earth, yet he takes the Catholic traditions very seriously.
I learned that confession is done because in order to really open up your heart to God, you must tell him all of your sins, are forgiven, and then you are cleansed, and can accept him in your life. I really like that, and I think the children understood it very well. Then, the little ones went in, one at a time, to the confessional. When they were all finished, Father Joe told us that they are so lovely in their innocence. He promised that all of their confessions were secret, and that he would never tell their parents, or anyone else.
He wants all the children to learn The Lord's Prayer by heart. We had cookies and juice, and then went home. I took my camera, but felt funny taking pictures in the church.
We all got dressed up, but the rest of the people there were in jeans, sweats, etc. Jessie felt out of place, especially because she does not want to be thought of as a hootie tootie city person. I could care less, but she wants to fit in. She is so sweet.
Don't you know I have already started looking on line for communion dresses for Kassidy? She loves glitz, and is going to love getting dressed up for this big event. The little girls dress up like brides. I will let you know why when I find out. I would like to buy them both a cross, but I may end up buying Kassidy her dress.
