Janet, I hope you DO have a thyroid deficiency... and before anyone says "Hey that's not nice!" let me explain. LOL

I have hypothyroid and have been on meds for it for several years. The meds are cheap and work very well! I lost about 52 lbs just by going on the meds. I also see a major improvement in my energy level, my hair and skin, my moods, etc.

My thyroid was SO far off when I was diagnosed that I actually cried with relief when I got the call. Normal tsh is between 3.5 and 5. Mine was 61, which my dr said could have had me weighing much more and being much sicker than I was.
I was on anti-depressants, couldn't lose weight, was losing my hair, had hit 251 lbs, and was simply miserable.

It's such a common thing and is so easily treated, that I can't believe they don't test routinely for it. I suspect it's more beneficial to the clinics to keep you coming back to be treated for the multitude of symptoms it causes since once diagnosed most feel dramatically improved!

Good luck hon! I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. Life's too short to spend it being miserable.
