This is the 3rd yellow lab pup these people have had in about a year.
The first one they ended up giving away because they said she was too rough and hard to have around. The second one got hit on the road and killed. They look like purebreds, but have no papers and they pick them up for $20 - $30 a piece most likely from some idiot who has the same low concern for their dogs that they do.
ALL any of those dogs would have needed would have been some love, attention and training. Why they keep getting another one is beyond me. They said they named this one "LUCKY" hoping she would be... they have no clue. I'd be shocked if she's ever been to a vet. She seems to be healthy, but won't be for long without shots or worming, etc.
If we just let her be the neighborhood dog like we did the other, she's sure to end up getting pregnant, which will just compound the problem. The last time this happened, they had a border collie male. He finally ended up going to a farm several miles away. I think HE was lucky.
I came right out and asked what they plan to do with the animals. The woman of the house said she's taking the female cat with her, leaving the male cat behind and that the Pup would have to be her dhs' problem... he's the one in jail. So I took that to mean the pup will be left behind as well. I told her the animals need someone to take care of them and she said "It's not my problem." Which I suppose means it will become ours. Argggggggggggggggg
