Yep, that's it - what my granddad called maize. I'm sure milo is the new and improved plant - this was back in the 50's (wow, I'm old!).
Back then we didn't have a combine and couldn't afford to hire the feed cut by a combine. I remember the men in the field with sickles, cutting down the stalks at the ground and then they placed them with the heads up in a shock form, bottoms of the stalks out and heads together propping it up - here's a link to a picture of a corn shock

Then they would come back and cut the heads off - and I don't remember what they did with them then - took them off to market I guess because they disappeared!
